Blog will follow the size of your website template, if you dont want to be the same, I suggest that create a seperate template/website and only create your blog there.

inside your first (main) website, remove your blog, create a page and name it Blog, then link that page/tab to your other website/ blog.

you can't change the size of your belog, because it uses the same template as your website, you can go to propertise of your blog and mark it as page without template and set the width for it, but I dont think you want your blog with out template.
