Cannot Open Website due to GZip Issue  en

I have not yet published my website, I am still trying to build it.  I have had it saved and worked on it for a week or so.  When I click the start button and click on my site, a box pops up that says "The magic number in GZip header is not correct.  Make sure you are passing in a GZip stream".  Please help me open my site and tell me that I have not lost it completely.

I have attached my project file.  There was no backup file shown, I don't even know if there ever was one.  I will have to figure out how to do that.

You need to set the path to the directory with your project name (the one before your iwprj file) in your preference, this is visible in the first page starting x5.

That should help and your project should be in your project selection, if not:

Try the restore option it is explaned here:

iwprj is not listed through preferences.  The only way that I can even see the project is through start, programs....(that is the only way).  Anytime I try to access through Website X5, it is not there and no option for it.  I cannot restore because there was never a backup made because it was set as backup when uploading and I had not uploaded yet because I was just creating my site.

You are right that if you set the preferences to the map where your iwprj file is you don's see it. You need to set in your preferences the map that leads to the map with the iwprj file, so do 1 step back in map/ directory. The last map in your prefrences should be website x5 v10 evolution. (see picture)

You are just not understanding my issue.  My path is exactly what you are telling me to do.  I started another project, and both show up after I start website x5 Evolution 10, but my original one just shows a transparent camera picture and when I click on it, it just gives me the GZip error.  I can open the new one just fine.  I think there may be a broken file to access my old project.  I need to know if there is a different way to access it.  Without a backup, I cannot restore or import.

Sandra,

I understand, just wanted to make sure the map is ok. In your case you are missing a file.

So the only way is -unfortunatly- to start all over again. Without the other files it's not possible to get your work back. Sorry ...

That really does not help.  Does this happen often with this program??  I always have used Microsoft Frontpage prior to this and never had any file issues.  Is there anything I can do to access the file?  You said I have missing files, how does that happen and how to I make sure that can not happen again?  I have backed up my new file, but have not yet exported because I am not yet done with my page.  However, each day I would like to make sure I do not lose anything more.

Sandra,

I Understand that this is not helpfull in getting your file back and making a backup is always usefull.

To my knowladge this happens very rarely. I made a lot of websites from V7 on for many years and never had these issues without cause. I can't tell you why it happend to you.

reasons can be a hangup of pc during write actions or a bad sector on Hard drive, or many other reasons.

But believe me, X5 is a good and very helpfull program.
