Previewing the website takes too long

Hi,
As per the title of this post, why is it taking too long for Website X5 pro 2019.2 to preview my website? Sometimes, I can wait for up to 2-3 minutes. It's not always like that, but it happens quite often.
Could it not be possible that we preview our website directly in a browser of our choice, instead of relying on the WX5 preview mode before jumping to Chrome, Firefox or else?
Thanks

Rudy, the delay can be caused a number of ways (eg modify the header and this will affect the generation of every page), but it can also be caused by large (or many) images in the project. If this is the case you could use step 5, export project and turn on optimise (reduce resolution of large images). When the iwzip had been created, leave the project and then select import, then select the iwzip. This will not overwrite your existing project.
Even if you could directly open chrome instead of preview the delay would be the same as WX5 regenerates the pages.

Thanks Esahc for quick feedback,
Will try that.

Hi Esahc
Your suggestion: When the iwzip had been created, leave the project and then select import, then select the iwzip. This will not overwrite your existing project.
My Observation: problem not really solved. It takes as much time to generate project files.
it should not be the case. I mean, I am moving my project from one Software to WX5 and despite the fact that my website has 90+ pages, the older software never has such a problem. Previewing a project should not be difficult and thus instantaneous.
I think this is an issue that should be handled by the coders so that we're in a "plug and play" mood, and not "plug and pray" :)
Thanks
Rudy, as stated above there can be many reasons for the delay when generating a preview especially if multiple pages ( or an especially complex page with many photos) are impacted by the change or if you do a ctrl+preview (to regenerate the whole site). If you are working locally WX5 should be quite responsive when making changes to a single page or single object on a page.
Could you advise if you are working locally, across a network or synchronising files (eg one drive)? Working from a USB can cause major delays and all of these add the risk of instability. I also moved back to Windows Defender because the overheads of 3rd party antivirus were severely impacting WX5 file generation.
I do not know what package you were using before WX5 so have no idea of the overheads of that package, but WX5 packages all of the project in primarily one xml file. This in itself is an overhead but it has the advantage that if you frequent (and you should) step 5, export project, the generated iwzip file is a standalone backup with all components of the project included irrespective of the location of the source files so you can easily move the project to another PC if required.
Many on these pages have requested that Incomedia look at improving the performance to speed up preview generation, this frequently happens when a new version is released and older projects revised, but the need and urgency disipates quickly as projects become more complete with minor changes and amendments to individual pages becoming the norm, but there will always be some delay as WX5 generates html from the XML file.
If I am wrong I am sure someone will step in and correct me :-)
(when I "refreshed" my windows install I moved to an internal SSD so I am fortunate that I suffer few delays)
Rudy, I have also been reminded by a friend to ask if you have empty cells on your page/s.
WX5 (especially more recent releases) does not cope well with empty cells. They make the project unstable, dramatically slow down saving and previews and can stop row/formats from working totally. Please fill every cell with an object (there need not be any content) eg text, html, etc You can fill any cells as rows or columns of cells it you wish, and of course, if you have empty rows at the bottom of the page just delete them (they are easy to put back if required).

Esahc,
Let me clarify something I did not in my previous post. I do really complain about "preview generation" when I modify the Header because then WX5 is obliged to regerate all files. And this is what really annoys me as I do waste a lot of time because I am testing several options regarding the header for my project, and Preview is really slowing down my work. Unfortunately, even exporting the project does not help!
However, once the header is modified, and I go to "Map" where I add or modify objects, preview generation is reasonably fast, despite the fact that I do have some empty cells. I work on two projects. One is online and empty cells have, as far as I am concerned, never been a problem.
Thanks for your tips this issue,
