Looking for a feature
Autor: Melissa K.Hi there,
My client is looking for something and I'm hoping the program either has a feature for it, or that perhaps something can be done to emulate it.
The idea: My client wants to offer a pass [say for 30 days] for tutorials and guides. They would be video guides, so we think the best idea is to have them viewable online and hosted on my client's site, rather than downloading dozens of videos.
Stipulations: Limited time access, no dowloading to prevent sharing/pirating, must not be something someone can access without paying, and ideally isn't something with a password that we have to change manually - my client prefers to set something up so it can run by itself.
Brainstorming: I had originally thought to create an item in the shopping cart, and rather than have it go to a downloadable product, it would go to an unlisted page on the site with the videos. The link the person receives would be set to expire in 30 days.
However, as far as I understand, after you click on the randomized link with the expiry date, the person sees the real [stable] url of the page, which they can then bookmark and view it even after the access expires, right?
So, I'm accepting ideas or thoughts on how to make it work - does the program have a feature that would allow for this?
Thank you!
Hello melissa
today the product has no feature to do that
herre my remarks
idea
i suggest in this case to creat a youtube video and not to upload videos to the customer website.
why ? because YT is the best solution to host videos, to compress them and so on
stipulation
never you can block the download. and even you will find a way to do it, the user can play the video and to use a video recorder software to record the screen
so blocked download is not possible. just may be the right clickbor button to download video
hope this helps
Axel
Looking for a feature, im willing to pay feature that i need... No answer from Incomedia...

Hi Axel - the problem with a YT video is that it's freely available, my client wants it to be paylocked.
I understand there are always workarounds for dl, but I just meant that I wanted it to be something a person can view, rather than downloading multiple videos as a digital product.
Hi,
the best free way is to upload the videos to Google Drive and make them open only to readers without downloading and only allowed to customer emails and they must be from Google, then include the folder address of these videos in the form of a button on the customer page on your site.

Hi Mohamed - still doesn't solve my issue: my client has customers who aren't very tech-savvy, so to ask them to have a google account would just be a nonstarter. Additionally, it still doesn't solve the problem of the links: gdrive has a stable link, which can still be bookmarked and used after the fact.
Also, my client would like to keep it to the program, and not use third party.
One option would be to work with protected pages that then contain the videos.
Depending on the time of purchase, the customer then has 30 to 45 days to access the video site.
The seller would need to change the login credentials for one of the three video sites every 15 days, delete the older digital product, and create a new digital product.
The shop would then sell a digital product consisting of a text file with a link to the video page, an email address, and a password.
[ Product 1 for Videos a, b, c etc. ]
[ Product 2 for Videos a, b, c etc. ]
[ Product 3 for Videos a, b, c etc. ]
-----
The system with the 3 video pages and the 3 digital products for the same videos:
1) The shop operator would have to create a total of three video pages with access data, each of which would be presented as a digital product in the shop every 15 days.
2) After the third video page is online, 15 days later, the access data for the first video page is changed, and a new digital product with the new access data for the first video page is created and presented in the shop.
3)The old product for the first video page is then deleted because there is a new product for the first video page.
This is repeated 15 days later with the second video page, 15 days later with the third video page, and 15 days later with the first video page, and so on.
-----
The system is somewhat complex and only suitable for emergencies when no other better solution can be found.

Hi Daniel - thanks for your suggestion, and we did consider that, but as I mentioned, my client doesn't want something we have to keep changing manually, and you're right, this would be a tad complex to implement.
Maybe you could be inspired by these links:

I know this is 3. party solutions, but maybe you can make something to be a link between the 3. party and the end-user.
I don't think you should expect it can be made entirely in X5. If you believe in reincarnation, you could wait until X5 makes a solution that fits your customers need.

Thanks John, I'll mention these to my client.
Ha, yeah, I can only hope they'll do something one day. Bummer that they don't have the ability to do so - they have the tools in other widgets, but nothing that I can scrounge together to make it actually work for what I'm needing.
There are also paywalls that block certain articles on newspaper websites, for example, and only make them available after payment.
There are various paywall providers that charge a monthly fee and/or commission for their services.
However, I have no experience with operating a paywall, so I cannot offer any recommendations or assistance.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alternative if no solution is found - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I've shortened my idea in case anyone wants to use it.
There are only two protected websites with videos left, and the access data for one of these websites is changed once a month, alternating between the two.
.
A) Video page 1
Display product in the shop from beginning to end of August 2025.
########## Shop: Product 1 ##########
Watch our videos until the end of September 2025
Price: $10
################################
The product will be taken offline at the beginning of October 2025.
.
B) Video page 2 (Contains the same videos as Video Page 1)
Display product in the shop from beginning to end of September 2025.
########### Shop: Product 2 ########
Watch our videos until the end of October 2025
Price: $10
##############################
The product will be taken offline at the beginning of November 2025.
.
Every month there is a change as in A) and B). And every month the access data for the pages and the text file with the access data are changed.
Addition to my idea:
The price of the product could be reduced in the current month, e.g., $5.
And the product that starts next month would have the regular price, e.g., $10.
In my demo shop I have an example of what this could look like, see
>> https://findelinks.de/123shop-hosteurope/cartsearch/index.html (Demo shop, no sale)
The demo isn't designed as a "digital product," and there's no file download or protected video page. You have to imagine this part.
Addendum No. 2:
My idea can be simplified even further by creating it for an entire year and specifying only the month names, but no year numbers.
1) Create a single product with text and images, copy it eleven times, and paste it into the shop module. Then change the month names in the product copies.
This allows you to hide the unneeded monthly products in the shop module and display only the current and subsequent months.
2) The protected video page with the videos is created only once and copied and pasted 11 times. Then mark the video pages as protected.
3) 12 pseudo-users are created in the user management system, each with an email address and password.
4) Each protected video page is assigned to a pseudo-user, and the following is noted:
Name of the video page / Email address / Password
5) 12 text or PDF files are created, each containing the link to the corresponding video page and the corresponding access data (email address / password).
6) These text or PDF files with the link and access data are assigned to the respective products under "Digital Product."
Further work:
Now all that's left to do is hide the unnecessary products in the shop module.
The unnecessary video pages are marked as "In progress" in the sitemap so that they are no longer published during export. Delete these video pages in the FTP window as well. When you use this video page again, the “In Progress” flag will be removed and exported.
There is one small drawback:
A purchaser of one month can also use that month in subsequent years.
This disadvantage could be accepted or remedied.
The solution would be to change the password for the pseudo-users in the user management system once a year for the previous months. At the same time, the password for the associated text and PDF files for downloading would also be changed and re-linked to the products.
I may have already exhausted the capabilities of WebSite X5 at this point and there is probably nothing more I can do.

Hi Daniel,
I appreciate your thoroughness, but it's not what my client is looking for - they want something more automated, rather than asking me to change this every month as you're suggesting.
Here's one of the paywall providers. Read it carefully and contact the provider's support if you need help.

With WebSite X5, only semi-manual solutions are possible.

(It > En) ...assuming that everything you see on your monitor is also already on your PC, therefore at the mercy of any malicious user...
... My personal idea would have been a simple manual process...
1) ... create a first custom HTML page for each user (with JavaScript expiration)...
2) ... on this page, import a second custom HTML page with the <video> tag into an IFRAME;
3) ... if the first page hasn't expired, it sends a key to the page loaded in the IFRAME. If it's correct, the IFRAME page will play the video; otherwise, it will redirect to a page with an error warning;
4) ... the second IFRAME page checks the key and, if it's correct, it will open in the IFRAME and play the video; otherwise, it will redirect to a blank warning page;
... then email your LINK to each user....
... the pages in .1) will be inactive upon expiration and can be periodically deleted from the server. To avoid accumulating them...
... anyone with a direct link to the external page to import into an IFRAME, if the IFRAME doesn't receive the KEY, won't open and will redirect to a page with an error message;
... from my perspective, the only real commitment is to create a separate .1) page for each client, with Javascript control of its expiration date, or with the expiration starting from a certain date (simply entering the date in the code)...
... it might seem like a somewhat cumbersome process, but I think that once this structure is in place, it can be easily controlled...
...!... obviously, it's all up in the air and needs to be revised...!...

Hi everyone.
Thanks again for the suggestions. My client doesn't think any of them are viable, and instead, they're wondering the following:
Is there a way to make a page kind of "password protected", where the password is the order number from the shopping cart?
Thank you.
1) With WebSite X5, a user can be created in the Access Management and the email address (can also be a fictitious email address) and password (can also be the order number) can be specified.
2) The desired page is selected under "3 Sitemap" and then "Locked" is clicked at the top. A window opens in which a user is selected, e.g., the user created in the Access Management with the order number as the password.
3) When purchasing the digital product, a file would then have to be sent containing the URL to the protected page, as well as the email address and password. However, all buyers would then receive the same access data.

... yes, ...I remember an old and simple invention of mine with EXTRA code created 15 years ago, ... but only if you want to do something simple, very simple, and unpretentious(!)...
... my invention is divided into two methods and is based on the HTML page, which must have the same name as the code. For example, if the code is "xyz123," the page must be called "xyz123.html"...
... ... ... ...
1) ... the first method consists of creating an HTML page with only the login field for entering the password that you will communicate to the user...
... if the correct password, known only to the interested party, xyz123, is entered, then he will be redirected to his hidden page, xyz123.html.
... ... ... ...
2) ... the second, shorter method consists of creating only the hidden page with the code name xyz123.html...
... in this case, the page will open in a darkened form, not directly accessible, with a window that invites the user to enter the password, which will be Always the same code you communicated to the interested party, ...once the correct code is entered, the page will become visible...
...these two methods are not very demanding, but they are simple, immediate, and useful for many non-binding cases that do not require excessive confidentiality...
...this method of mine is similar to my other old invention for adults, except that instead of clicking "yes/no" to access, you have to type the code...
...if you think it might work for you, and if you feel like doing it, let me know which of the two methods you want to use, so I can work out the appropriate code and then I'll pass it on to you, a code that will simply be applied in the Expert panel with a single copy/paste...

@kolAsim,
Nice
, but it's the same page for all users with same password !
I understood that Melissa would like the same page reachable for x users with a different password for each .
I am wrong ?!
...the cart number is individual...
(...not just 2fa...)!
.
in this case it's necessary to create manually a login account with each order number (for the password) for EACH ORDER.... heavy task no ?
...the logic of my method is as stated: individual pages for each purchase code, obviously...
...if that's not what Melissa's interested in, it doesn't matter, as always, and ignore my method and Post...

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the confusion - I'm just looking for a way to limit the page's access - and we were wondering if the order number was a viable way to do it. It would all lead to the same page, but it'd be a way to limit who can view it, without needing to include a real login.
The idea is that someone buys an item, they get a link to a page that says "enter your order number", they enter the number, and are then allowed entry to the locked page.
here this explanationis is interesting
same process for anyone. just one thing seems not easy
how to control that the order number registered into the db is the good one !!
@KolAsim ..... idea ?
and also need to ask the identity of the user to be sure that its the good user
because the user action can be done long time after his order !
No! ... then nothing...
.. with my method, the LINK is the password, you have to communicate it when you've completed the sale...
... what could be done in #step4 of the e-commerce is to add a notice that you can add with the program's tools (content language):, or with my simple EXTRA code, a notice like this:
>> copy the purchase code to use as the password in the LINK that will be sent to you by email
.
ciao
.
In my instructions 1) to 3) above, buyers of the digital product receive a file containing the URL of the protected pages, as well as an email address and a password.
The URL in the file is copied and pasted into the browser's address bar. The buyer is taken to the protected page, where they enter the email address and password and can view the content.
This functionality can be implemented directly with WebSite X5 without the need for external scripts or similar things.

Login with this access data, see

The digital product does not yet contain the access data file for this test, so please use the link and access data above.
----- (A) Shop with subscription product -----
----- (B) Protuct settings -----
----- (To be done beforehand 1) Access Management with access data und blocked page -----
----- (To be done beforehand 2) Sitemap with blocked page -----

Hello Daniel
Take Care,
The file is automatically sent to the user if YOU PAID with Paypal / STRIPE ONLY. Does not works with any other kind of payment !
Axel
And I have developped a long list of custom payment and this option to send a file just after payment is not available with external coding.
It's a pity but its like this !!

So I repeat just Stripe and Paypal can be used in this case (if it works.. another quetion ?!?!) .... May be is it a restriction...
... ... OK for the normal procedure with user registration, obvious with the program, ... ... but instead, just to be clear, with my simple and elementary method, no registration is needed, but you need to be aware of and have a clear idea of this method...
.
In my demo shop, the test customer received an email with a download link even without PayPal.
The download link in the email contained an image with the login details, see screenshots below
A bank transfer was selected as payment in the demo shop.
However, the admin area for managing the online shop is a bit confusing, so it took me a few attempts to get the email with the login credentials sent to the customer.
.
----- Image with the login details ----
----- Email with download link -----
So what the usage of this option ???? to send infos AFTER payment ...
If you receive the link and payment not already done !!!!
bug .... avain
pffffffffff
Incomedia can clarify on Monday whether it's a mistake if the download link is sent without PayPal.
Perhaps Incomedia can also explain how to correctly click the icon in the admin area to indicate payment via bank transfer. The icons are accompanied by somewhat unclear information.

Hello Daniel,
apologies for not replying earlier.
Was the order processed through the Control Panel, or was the order simply completed on the customer's end?
I remain available.

I'm sorry, but all due respect, why has my post been hijacked for something completely unrelated? There are over 40 comments on this post, and only a handful are attempts to offer solutions to my query, while the rest are ideas and issues brainstormed out of other conversations had here.
There are comments being offered as useful when absolutely none of them are useful for what I'm looking for, and I'd have hoped and expected there would be better moderation to tell people to not spam a post with unrelated matters, but once again, Incomedia sorely disappoints.
If Daniel and Axel have issues with their shops, then they can create their own posts, rather than continuing to add to mine.
Hello Melissa,
I have no problem with my shop, just tro to help you on some little issues with Paypal payment.
I have just send an information like email reception is working on JUST WITH PAYPAL or STRIPE.
This information was for you.... to inform you because you dont' know this one.
Like Daniel said... Incomedia would be clarify this point...
But not Info from Incomedia about that. And you don't said that Incomedia is competent like us.
Then the easiest way is to leave yourself in the hands of other users.
I don't want waste more time on this post
Bye Bye
Axel
@Incomedia: The icons in the shopping cart control panel should be explained in the instructions so that all users benefit from them, e.g.:
Which icon ships a digital product after the customer has paid by bank transfer?
This could be explained using examples of different actions and the necessary clicks on the icons, since only the developers know which icons need to be clicked individually or consecutively to trigger certain actions.
Since I only have a demo shop for testing, the information would be primarily for other users.
Hello Daniel,
thanks for the feedback. As Melissa rightfully mentioned, some of the replies here have gone off-topic, so for further replies about this matter I would recommend a separate post, to avoid additional unrelated replies here.
