Hi,
regarding the WebSite X5 Manager - is it FREE to use/download for someone who doesn't have a Website X5 license (i.e. future web shop owner - client)?

Yes, the Manager app is completely free and there is nothing to stop anyone downloading either Android or iOS versions. However, you would have to supply your administrator credentials to a third party before they were able to use it, as only site administrators may log in to the app.
