Hello again all.  I am unbelievabl bummed right now.  I just discovered by accident that emails are no longer working on both my personal and business websites.  That means no order emails or email forms can send to me.

I looked the error up on the PHP Wiki and they seem to think that the problem is most likely a DNS issue.

I have checked EVERYTHING I can think of.  Nothing has changed on my server side, except that possibly updates to Windows and Windows Server may have happennde since the last time I made a check on email capability.

I know the problem has to be with the Server as X5 has been just fine, and the fact that BOTH websites generate the same error in the logs in stands to reason it is on the server, but what the hell can it be?

I use the same AT&T SMTP email server that I have defined in Outlook on all my PC's which work just fine in sending and receiving email.  Server is:  SMTP.ATT.YAHOO.COM

I can ping i and get the IP address back on all PC's.  I know the user name and password I use works just fine as I have been sending out and receiving emails in Outlook for months!

Anyone have any ideas where to start?

Well gang, just in case any of you ever happen to run into this similar situation, you are NOT going to believe what the problem turned out to be....

AT&T has done something to disable the smpt server I am using for sending mail.  What is VERY strange that this server accepts my smtp outbound mail from programs like Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, etc., and up until the last time I had tried to send a message or run an order through my website, all was well.  The server name was:  smtp.att.yahoo.com

So I tried changing everything I could think of on my network, on the server and I was even getting to the point where I was going to deinstal and reinstall stuff and really risk messing up a whole lot of things!

But after several tests that i ran, I had to conclude that it was NOT my equipment or software, that it had to be something external.

And so I googled the names of AT&T SMTP servers and found one called:  smtp.mail.att.net

And guess what?  Everything now works again!

WTFO????   I HATE AT&T as my ISP but I have to be careful because my wife works for them. Don't bite the hand that feeds!!!

Alls well that ends well, right?
