You could have a PHP-file-upload script with password to upload files, or you could make ftp upload available for a folder.
And then you could use a gallery program that can nicely show images in a folder - or more folders. The program will then include eventual new files uploaded in the slideshow.
dropbox is free if you don't go over 2 Gb, that is not bad. picture for internet should not be bigger then 1024 pixels and keep the size also low, this increases loading time.
So that should be no problem at all for a few pictures....
In manual slideshow mode, there will be seen a navigation line where you can move between images, show all images in album and choose automatic slideshow,
If an image is geotagged (lat/lon in EXIF) then a (M) is shown. Clicking the (M) will show the location on a Google Map.
If a (i) is shown then the image has extra text in the EXIF data or/and in an attached text-file. Clicking the (i) will show the text.
It requires only one easy small installation and then it can be used for several folders and subfolders and a slideshow can be defined for each folder - with the same installation.
It is not a X5 application. If you want to use a X5 application then Andre's suggestion is the one you should choose.

Hi Antre,
It is a solution of necessity I believe ... It would be very interesting for me if the plugin supported the photos to be in a server directory, and not in a dropbox directory.
I have a slideshow example here: https://bramminginfo.dk/glad-zoo.html
The slideshow is highly configurable: Transition time, specify start image or random image, show image captions, show album and more settings.
There is also an add-on to to the album, that can show geotagged images on a map. You can see it on the same page.
Another example here: https://bramminginfo.dk/ribe-vikingecenter.html
The same app/installation can also be set up to show a navigate-able (breadcrumb navigation) album:
Stand alone: https://bramminginfo.dk/lokationsbilleder/
Intagrated in X5: https://bramminginfo.dk/billeder.html
In manual slideshow mode, there will be seen a navigation line where you can move between images, show all images in album and choose automatic slideshow,

Here https://bramminginfo.dk/lokationsbilleder/index.php?a=Vejen/Glad_Zoo many images are geotagged and have extra info.

I think this will do?
