Upgrade won't open older files

I cannot open my older files (pre-version 8) in my version 9 upgrade. I posted this question yesterday morning but it isn't showing up in the list of posts and I have not receive a reply and so this is why I am re-posting.

You did batch process your V8 project first I presume?
Look in your V8 Project for any scripts you may have inserted and take them out....
Then try to import into V9!!

As I said the file is pre-version 8 and so the message I got was version 9 cannot open files older than version 8. I was told to post this problem by Samantha on Thursday as I had read earlier that she can convert the earlier files so they can be opened in version 9.
