I want to upload a couple of local pdf-files from my computer to my web site, but I cannot find out a way to do it. The same question has been asked by others here, but I just do not understand the explanation they have got. In fact I do not even understand the text, perhaps due to the fact that the answer may be translated from some other language to English by a machine. As it is so easy to upload pictures saved as jpg-files, I guess it should not be too complicated to do the same thing with pdf-files. Can you help me? I am now using WebsiteX5 Evolution 10.

Hello Christer,

If you simply want to upload a PDF file to your server then it is probably easiest to use a free FTP program like FileZilla:

https://filezilla-project.org/

Evolution 10 has built-in functionality to display any PDF file which you have already uploaded to your server.  Look in the 'Widgets' list of the HTML/Widget Object and you will find it.  Simply set the path to point to the location of your newly uploaded file on your server.

If you want to set a link to allow users to download a PDF then you are best to zip the PDF first, and then set the link using the 'File or URL' option  -  this is because you will have no control over the end-user browser settings, and many browsers are set up to automatically attempt to open a PDF file within the browser, if possible.  If this is what you hope to achieve then well and good, otherwise compress the PDF first, which will invoke browser download.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Paul
