User Access to Adobe PDFs  en

Hello,

We currently have product brochures (in pdf format) on the following page (http://www.optelco.com/W2016/product-info.php). We would prefer to have our users submit their email first, before they have access to the pdfs. We don't want to have to create logins, but we would like their contact information.

Please let me know if this is possible and how it could be done.

Thank you,

Shupha Varghese

Hello Shupha

I know You don't want users to login, but maybe it is the way to do it. Or You could password-protect Your PDFs.

Suggestion :

You have a page much as the page You have now, but when You on that page click on a PDF, the user is told "You have to login to gain access to the PDFs. Fill out the mailform and You will immediately get a userneme and a password".

On top of the page You have a link to a page that is the "same" page, but with downable/pop-up-able links. But this page is protected so the user first see the username and password, and when logged in he sees the "real" page.

In the mailform, You have put in a reply-text something as : To gain access to the PDFs You must use :

PDF    as username   and

PDFpass    as password.

Or the reply Could be : The codeword for the PDF is : PDFcode

But when using the method of coding each PDF, the user has to put it in for every PDF and every time he opens it.

When using the protected page the user only has to login once and then he has access to all PDFs. And You only has to create one user ( PDF ) with the password.

With this You should achieve, that the user does not get access to the PDFs before You have a valid mailaddress from the user.

Hope You will be helped.

Kind regards

J. Schwartz

Dear Shupha,

thank you for your message.

You can follow John's suggestion, which is very useful. On the other hand, if you want to use only the software functionalities, you should then create a locked page where you will insert the PDFs: http://help.websitex5.com/en/v13/pro/es_area.htm

I know you have stated you do not want to create logins, but by now the most simple way of obtaining the wished result usign the software functionalities is the procedure I have linked you.

Please let me know if I ca be of further help. Kind regards.

Hello Elisa ( and Shupa )

Elisa - last in my post I suggested to use a login page.

I suggested two ways to "solve" the problem. How does what You suggest, differ from my second suggestion ?

I think we should not confuse anyone.

If what You suggest is not what I suggest last in my post, I would like to know ....

And Shupa - for both my suggestions, I recommend that You use the automatic answer to send username and password to the users mailaddress.

It will be the same code for all users, but that should be OK, as The user has to contact You for the password. When he knows the password he can use it again.

Kind regards

John
