1 specificly or all gif images?

Try another, does that work? Then edit the gif or set it to jpg with irfanview (free) or another picture program  and try again

I qattempted 3 different gifs to no avail

I also tried video and animated image

restart pc, disable firewall/virusscanner. Do you work from a pc with hard drive or from remote place like one drive?

If nothing works try to reinstall x5 (download top right next to your name latest version (downloads) and install that

Alan, You are correct,  I cannot add a gif  to a webpage,  I cant even link to a gif located on my server. 

I did copy a gif URL   and pasted that into where  it says "internet file" and that works..    So if the gif you are trying to use, is on the Net,  then  copy the File url into WebX5  and that should work...  Not the best solution  but is a sort of work around just now..
