I am working on a large Family History (name of software) ancestry file (.GED)  of some 3000 plus individual records for our village which I wish to consider posting to an existing webx5 website.

Where can i find information to help me achieve this please?

I am using Webx5 Evolution 8 edition

Hoping to hear Best wishes RogerC

You have to use some software that can present data from a GED file.

Example: DeneWeb    https://geneweb.tuxfamily.org/wiki/GeneWeb

If you already use an online service for that you can "link" to your X5 project.

You can then either show the software in a page in the X5 project by using iframes- or - from your X5 project you make a link to the GED software.

Hi John thanks v much for that useful information.

I have found that within my ancestry software (Family History), there is  provision for publishing records to a website.

Attached is an explanation of the process I havce followed.

My problem is having tested the upload on my PC when I use WebX5 to link my data folder to the webpage, the 'Test' function refuses to link.

can you see a way to solve this please?

Best wishes and thanks again for your previous advice.  RogerCscreenprints and comments

Hello Roger

I cannot see the attachment. All I see is this:

So now I am only guessing:

I assume you are aware that what you want to show on the web, must be on the web (on your server) - unless you use the preview and it is pure JS, CSS and html. In this case you can preview and see things even if they are not yet on the server.

You cannot publish something that is still on your PC.

Another thing is:

If something need PHP to function, you need to upload to the server before it can be "seen". Preview cannot be used when it is about PHP.

What kind of file is it, you have attached?
