Google Webmaster Tool metatag - having copied the meta tag from google webmaster tool, I put it in the correct verification box under General Settings/Expert and exported the update to the Web - before the export, I was asked to choose which file to put the export and I chose cpanel. whereas on the first export for all files I had chosen public.
Going back to Google Webmaster Tools, this has not verified the site as they cannot find the file. Can anyone tell me how to access and move the file to wherever it should go please?

Google is very unpredictable! And have had this done to me 100's of times.... There are other options to verifying your website. As in uploading a webpage with their tag inserted. Try this method too, it will eventually accept the verification just persevere!

Otherwise you may upload the HTML that Google Webmasters Tool offers to verify the site property...

Thanks for all your support chaps. Webmaster tools still could not find the meta tag verification 24 hours later, even though I had put it in the correct box in WebsiteX5. So I checked on Google Webmaster where they want the meta tag and it states;
Is the meta tag in the correct place on the page? We look for it in the page's HEAD section. An example of correct placement is shown below.<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Your Title</TITLE> <meta name="google-site-verification" content="String_we_ask_for"> </HEAD> <BODY>
So I went into the Control Panel through my host server, found the index.html file, went into Edit and pasted the meta tag where it indicates above - the site is now verifed on Google - Result
