ImEmailForm renamed after export and optimize  en

x5 evo 10, minor curiosity. My method of using this tool after changes to the project.

1. Run export and optimize project.

2. Run export to disk. Test on my inhouse webserver, after validation then:

3. Run export to host.   4. Check files on host.

Odd files in folder "imemail" folder, see atached file. The project contains 4 email objects.

Every time I do as described, the email objects are renamed, even if the objects has not been changed. As a result the "imemail" folder is filled with "dead" files.

Question: why ??.

The x5 evo 10 is an exelent tool, the site is running without any errors or flaws, everything works fine, I am very happy with the evo 10 eddition, it is only a minor curiosity, I solve manually, deleting "dead" files on the host..

Thanks

Hello Erik,

go in the path that WebSite X5 save the project (see the path in the preference windows).

Then, in the folder of the project, deklete the folder "preview" and "upload".

Open the project anc click on the CTRL+Preview.

In the server remove all file of the site and export it completely.

Hope this help.

x5 evo 10 rev. 10.1.8.52

Sorry, it did not help so I have done some simpler testing.

My project concist of 4 pages each containing an email object + app. 40 pages containing text objects + app. 50 pdf files + app 400 pictures.

1. added a text page and uploaded to the server.  Result: new imEmailform files with new names in the "imemail" folder.

2. deleted a text page and uploaded to the server.  Result: new imEmailform files with new names in the "imemail" folder.

Repeated step 1 an 2 several times, same result.

3. The number of files in the "imemail" folder in the server continue to increase, thow only the 4 newest files are used. Only function "Upload website to host" was used.

The website is stil working perfect as usual.

It is a minor bug, easely menaged manually, but such a fine program is not supposed to produce "dead" files.

Removing all files in the server is not a god option as upload time is a 6+ hours job.

My question is still: why ??.

Thanks

Hello Riccardo,

yes, I deleted "WebSite X5 v10 - Evolution" folder, remove all file of the site on my server.

Imported the project from "WebSite X5 - Projekter" and exported the site to my server.

All files on the server OK. 4 files in the "imemail" folder on the server . Added one text page, and exported the site, now 7 files in the "imemail" folder on the server.

Deleted one text page, and exported the site, now 10 files in the "imemail" folder on the server. etc.

For test purpose I have reduced the project file to under 1 MB, 1 home page, 2 pages containing email objects, 2 text pages. The test project has been testet in the same way, same response.

Greetings Erik

Hello Erik,

i test your project, it's correct. You have 2 form email and in the imemail WebSite X5 create 2 file .php.

If i modify the project the files are rewritten, remain only 2 file.

Check your server option or try to export the site on the disk and then copy manualli the file on server.

Hope this help.

Hello Riccardo,

It is no big issue, easely managed. Now and then i "export the site on the disk", then i compare with the files on the server and remove unused files as i only upload changes. Over time the server will contain unused files as pages are added to and deleted from the project. When i discover a curiosity, i ask the softwareteam why? in order to debug-improve the application.

You have a very fine softwareteam creating an exelent application.

Greetings from a retired hardware/software developer.  d   :-)

Erik
