Hello,

In the product catalogue, is it possible to mark items as out of stock? I have had a look and can't see any way to do this.

Thank you

Karen

Hello Karen,

Go to Step 4 Advanced Settings >Shopping Cart...  double-click on the product in the Product List for which you want to adjust stock...

In the new screen which opens select the 'Availability' tab, and click the 'Out of stock' button.

This information applies to the 'Professional' version...  I'm going to double-check whether or not stock availability is a feature of the Evolution version...  will let you know shortly...

Kind regards,

Paul

The 'stock availability' feature is not present in the Evolution version unfortunately, Karen...  it's one of the extra features in the Professional version only.

oh :( This is very important for the product catalogue as it would also prevent people from ordering more stock than you actually have. Can I pay you to fix this for me?

I'm just a regular user like yourself, Karen.  The Incomedia staff will be back at work tomorrow.  If you set this post to 'Private' you will be able to discuss with them any options which might be open to you.

I understand the necessity of customers not ordering stock that you haven't got.  Just to expand on the 'stock availability' feature of the Professional version...  it doesn't keep track of actual stock levels, not at the moment anyway.  I hope this will be added at some point in the future.  But as it stands at present the system can't prevent over-ordering.

The stock levels in WebSite X5 are as follows:

'In stock'

'Limited availability'

'Out of stock'

Say you have 5 items which you list on your website and show them as being 'In stock'.  Customer 'A' purchases 4 of them...  A few minutes later customer 'B' purchases another 3...  but you are now short of 2...  there is nothing in the software at present to prevent this from happening.  Stock levels need to be adjusted manually after each sale.  I hope automatic stock control will come soon!  The software is continually being improved.

Kind regards,

Paul
