Verifying your site with Google  en

HI

Iam am having trouble verifying my newly published website with Google. I am using Crazy Domains as my host and my domain is registered with Digital Pacific (Australia). The website is up and is operational however the search engine is not yet finding it.

The process of website verifying the website as per your help is:

o use Google Webmaster Central™, you will first need a Google Account and be able to prove that you are the owner of the website to be analyzed. One way of proving you are the owner of the website is to copy a meta tag supplied by Google™ in the first <head>section of your  Home page, before the <body> section.

This is what you have to do:

Open an account with Google™.Go to the Google Webmaster Central™ home page and log in.Click on Add a site in the Home page and type the complete URL of the site you want analyzed. Click on Continue. In the Verification Page, select the verification method you want to use. If you want, go to the Alternative methods section and select the HTML Tag option.Copy the meta tag supplied by Google™ and paste it into the Verification metatag for Google Webmaster Central in the Statistics, SEO and Code | Basic window of WebSite X5: the Program will add the meta tag in the correct position to the HTML code of your Home page.A verification meta tag from Google™ looks like this:

<meta name="verify-v1" content="VOPYsjbR4uw/YqV+MWLB0lVmJt0niwdkv9PQTsTREHQ=" />

Once you have published your website, go back to the Site Verification page in Google Webmaster Central™ and click on Verify to complete the procedure.

Everything goes well and as this is the first time for this website I go to Google Webmaster and follow this instruction.

Recommended: HTML file uploadUpload an HTML file to your site.

1. Download this HTML verification file. [googlec88879a1f3aaab30.html]

2. Upload the file to http://www.portraitsandmemories.com.au/

3. Confirm successful upload by visiting http://www.portraitsandmemories.com.au/googlec88879a1f3aaab30.htmlin your browser.

4. Click Verify below.

To stay verified, don't remove the HTML file, even after verification succeeds.

I then go to the SEO section of Incomedia and copy the text that comes in the download:

googlec88879a1f3aaab30.html

I then get the message:

Verification failed for http://www.portraitsandmemories.com.au/using the HTML file method (1 hour ago). Your verification file was not found.

Can you guide me, or point me in the right direction. I note for instance that the Metatag in your help screen has a significantly different look to the metatag detailed from Google.

Thanks

Stuart Forsythe

Hi Stuart, I went through this process and my verification worked fine...however it took a lot of thinking about the process and rereading the Google instructions before I got it right.

I will have another look at what I did to see if I can help you through it. I was using X5 Evolution 10.

Great! It still takes a while for Google to "notice" you, of course, but as time goes on that will improve. Ask any people you know that have sites to put a link to your site on theirs (and do the same for them). That really helps get Google to notice - or at least it did. Google change the rules a fair bit...

My site is not hugely looked at (yet) but I am happy to put a link on mine to yours! Yours is a nice site and I am a photography teacher from NZ so happy to help out.

Thanks Wayne

How do you put a link on your site. Is it as simple as something like a button or image that links to your site. And let me have a look at your site. As you can see I love great photography so Ive decide to turn my hobby into a business.
