Hello,

How can i have the pages i have under a Folder to be uploaded under a real life folder in my FTP.

Everything i upload seems to go into the root of the website only.

But i cant seem to be able to actually create a real life folder where its : http//website/vod/page.php

Thank you

Hello Luis,

WebSite X5 will always upload .html and .php files etc. into the destination folder designated in the export stage, Step 5.

If you want to put specific files in specific folders where the URL reflects the path, then one way of doing this would be to use the 'Levels' available in the Sitemap in Step 2.

You can set the 'Levels' to point to URLs such as the example you gave:

http//website/vod/page.php

But you must manually create the extra folder(s) on the server, and manually upload any files into them using an FTP client.

Kind regards,

Paul

Apologies I didn't make myself clear enough.  What I meant was for you to manually upload any .html files into the subfolder(s) using an FTP client like FileZilla, as opposed to WebSite X5.

In Step 5 of WebSite X5 there is an option to export any pages you have created to disk.  You can then select the ones you want and upload them using FileZilla into the subfolder.

It is a little bit of a messy workaround I'm afraid, but there is no easier way given the manner in which X5 works.

And it is still preferable to creating an extra X5 project just for your subfolder pages, which IMHO would be even more awkward.  There is nothing to stop you designing the pages within an X5 project and then exporting to disk, but I don't recommend uploading a second project into the subfolder, as you would then have many duplicate files and scripts on your server.

Just be careful with menus and headers, etc. when uploading extra pages in this way.  For example, you might have to edit URLs to ensure that any links in pages in the subfolder are pointing to the correct locations in the main project.

Trial and error may be required, and to be honest it is quite a fair bit of extra work.  You might have to ask yourself whether the work involved is justified.

Hope this is a bit clearer.

Paul
