Preview before going online

I am making a website for a friend.
How can I show her (at distance) the prelimenary results before going online?

I usually make a "secret" folder on the domain and upload the website there where no one else will see it. www.yoursite/test/ for example, or even put it on a different domain if you have one of your own. Once it is up just send a link via email. You can simply delete the whole folder and upload your website to the correct place once your friend is happy.
Or, if you truly don't want it online yet, export your website in step 5 (export to disk, use an empty folder for this. then zip the folder and send this file.
I hope the website is not tooo big for that at the moment.....
But setting it temporarly online without giving the map / folder where you have placed it to others beside your friend can do fine. Just like Andy said.
But don't keep it up too long after check from your friend remove the folder.
the best and easiest way is to create a subdomain like preview.yourdomain.com
then your server will atomaticly creates a folder name preview inside your pulic_html, upload your website inside preview website and your friend can goes to preview.yourdomain.com and view the website.
I do the same thing when I design a website for my clients.
