Fix mobile usability issues found on my website?  en

Like some others have experienced, the Google Webmasters Tools team have sent me an email indicating my website does not work well on mobile devices. I know this is due to the fact Website X5 does not generate responsive pages. Google talks about updates to a viewport tag and other posts mention creating a separate site for mobiles.

I have very little knowledge of CSS, an not an expert with Website X5, and am struggling to understand the best way to resolve the issues Google has highlighted. If I duplicate my site for mobile and change the template how do the two sites co-exist? Can I edit the viewport tag in my pages? If so, how?

I do apologise that this topic appears to be covered in other posts but I am struggling to clearly understand what I need to do.

Many thanks

Alan

Hey Alan, you will need to seperate projects because X5 only allows one template (master page) per project. Even if they did there would probably be a problem with the nav bars. The easiest thing to do is have the mobile site as a "sub domain". Do more research on mobile sites, here, other forums and Google. Also check with your host about sub domains, almost all allow them. You can use a script to bounce back and forth or just put a button/link on both with no coding. I think there are X5 templates for mobile also. The 2 major methods are full content and limited essential stuff. Good Luck!
