Despite X5 supposibly being mobile friendly - GOOGLE says it isn't!  en

I have just tried both of my websites (www.alanstreluk.co.uk & www.campioncottage.com) on Google's Mobile friendly test site: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/ and both sites come back as NOT being mobile friendly.  They quote such problems as "Text too small to read ** Mobile viewport not set ** Links too close together".

There are various posts and suggestions on here, but none seem to give easy NON-EXPERT solutions for the typical person that this software is aimed at!

The X5 website is happy to splash that you can "Create websites that can be displayed on tablets and smartphones. WebSite X5 generates HTML5 code and guarantees compatibility with all browsers and mobile devices".  It fails to say that the Google bots will be ignoring them...

Please post simple instructions on how to make mobiles look at pages specifically produced, in simplified form, and how these will not be pushed down the Google ratings for their mobile-unfriendly-ness...

Many thanks

Hello Alan,

Google allows several mobile friendly setups. You can create one of these options with WebSite X5, by using the mobile templates in the Template Gallery and by creating your mobile friendly website. Google explains how to set everything correctly here: https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/mobile-seo/configurations/separate-urls

You can make a copy of the project by clicking on duplicate in the project selection and then in this copy you use one of the mobile templates available in the program.

Use a bigger font size than the one used on the other project and in the main menu settings in step 1 add more space between the buttons.

Many thanks!

Dear Claudia

I looked at the GoMobi option from the company that provides my domain and I have created a mobile site with them (m.campioncottage.com).  However, it says I have to "Copy the Javascript code from the downloaded file into the <head> tag of pages on your full website". - See the attachment.

I am not sure how to do this as it seems to mean I have to add the code to the site code.  Is that possible with X5?

Many thanks

Alan

Hello Alan,

Yes, this is possible...  please see the screenshot attached for an illustration of where to insert the JavaScript code from GoMobi.

Kind regards,

Paul
