4 GBT memory: is it enough for big projects  en

Dear Claudio and Ricardo, to the continuation of my problem with http://dopotopa.com

I reinstalled Windowswith minimumupdates (about 150 updates were not installed yet). The same problem - I can't add any new page. Try to the program in the evening without updates at all. But I am affraid it will not work too.

I suppose the problem can be:

1) My Windows home basic version

2) Memory. I have 4 GBt memory. My office PC which continue to work with the project is Windows ultimate with 8 GBt memory.

It seems the second more possible, because my second project http://earthbeforeflood.com is working at my home PC.

Now I suppose I must buy or new Windows or adding Memory or to wait WebSite Evo 11.07 or 12.

What I have to do? All variants demand money and it would be undesirable to make a mistake

Sincerely, Alexander

Buy the way, WebSite Evo 11.04 was working. The problem began from  WebSite Evo 11.05. I deminished the size of the project since that time. Moreover, It didn't work without photos at all when its weight is only 200 mbt

Hello Alexander,

The issue you experience depends on the size of the project. The only option is to separate it in more smaller projects since to load this project it requires more ram on the computer and Windows already uses a part of it by leaving only a part for the program.

It is not convenient to have a really big project since it will become always more difficult to work on it. If you can separate it in smaller projects you will be able to work on it on every computer since you will have to load smaller projects which will allow you to update it easier without the need to load the 8gb project file.

I would suggest you to separate the sections in macro categories so you will be then able to make a new project for every macro category and in the header you add the links to the different macro category projects. This will reduce the project size and help you to be able to edit it faster and on every computer also with less ram.

Many thanks!

Dear Claudio,

What do you think about another way?

I began to delete all pictures from the project and to move them on the server. It allow to delete all files from Files folder and my projet will be 500 mbt instead of 8 Gbt

Hello Alexander,

Yes this is also a solution so the project will not have the pictures but take them from online. This should make the project faster but to start to think to separate a big project like yours is is also a good idea once you removed the images.

Try to see if using the images from online instead to add them in the project if this helps you to edit the project. Make a backup of the images since after this change the program will not keep them in the internal library.

Many thanks!

Dear Claudio, I make several test pages in my office PC on this principle (unfortunately, I can work with the project at the office only occasionally). No difference when somebody look the site.

I tested yesterday my home PC with computer professionals. They set up an additional 4 GBT memory. No result. 6 GBt memory is free during creating of the project! They removed McAffee antivirus and firewall. No result. Their preliminary conclusion was as follows: Windows 7 home basic version couldn't work with big project. With Windows 7 ultimate all is right. The program works very fast. Adding a new page takes 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes earlier.

I hope you will make update all the same and I will install Window 10 instead of Windows 7 in the end of July and all will be good.

Best wishes, Alexander

Hello Alexander,

Of you have the possibility to test it with Windows 10 then it can be verified if it really depends on the basic home edition. In case please inform us about these test results with a different version of Windows.

Many thanks!
