Videos not working  en

I am a very unhappy customer right now.  I have purchased several versions of this software and up until now I have been pleased.  However, there is an issue with uploading videos to publish on my website and I feel this is something you should fix with an update so that it is not the complicated mess I have been reading about with other users.  I have made sure the flash plugin is working on the internal browser, my files are all Mp4, I downloaded the encoder you suggested to one gentleman and I encoded my Mp4 file with that encoder and nothing is working.  Other, cheaper web design software manages to allow uploading a video into their software and it publishes and plays perfectly.  Why does your software have such an issue with it?  We shouldn't have to jump through hoops to do this simple process.  Your software should do it for us as the others do!  I should not have to redesign my website on another software program to get videos to work, which seems is my only alternative at this point unless you have fixed your software with an update I am unaware of?  Please let me know what you suggest at this point.  Thank you.

Hi Paul

Thank you for responding.  My webpage does not have a video on it at this time because the software will not allow me to put one on it.  When I am on the edit page and try to insert the video, it says, your browser  must support HTML5 or Adobe Flash.  I have read of this issue on this forum and have tried all the solutions given such as make sure the Flash is activated on the brower inside the web design program, make sure the videos are MP4 which they are, I even downloaded a special encoder and ran my mp4 file thru it and it sitll will not work.  I am just so frustrated.  I've spent hours researching and trying to do the solutions to no avail.

Hello again Fran,

Please download the following ZIP file:

http://files.websitex5.com/answers_topic_files/extensions/Extensions.zip

Extract the contents which are two files as follows:

np-mswmp.dll

NPSWF32_11_5_502_110.dll

Move these two files into the 'Extensions' folder of your WebSite X5 installation, which is normally located via the following path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\WebSite X5 v11 Professional\Extensions

NB: please ensure WebSite X5 is closed before moving the files...

Restart WebSite X5 and check playback of the media files in the preview browser.

Kind regards,

Paul

Dear Paul,

I downloaded the file, extracted it to the extension folder and they are in there.  But it made no difference in the results I have been getting.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I need to solve this issue.  :(

Thank you,

Fran

When I am on the edit page and try to insert the video, it says, your browser  must support HTML5 or Adobe Flash.

Can you confirm that this message has now disappeared, having moved the two files you downloaded into the 'Extensions' folder?

It's important to extract the two files as opposed to just moving the single zipped file into the 'Extensions' folder.

I've attached a screenshot showing exactly what should be in the 'Extensions' folder...  does your installation look the same?  Are those two files present at exactly the same location as in the screenshot?

C:\Program Files (x86)\WebSite X5 v11 Professional\Extensions

...and not

C:\Program Files (x86)\WebSite X5 v11 Professional\Extensions\Extensions

I apologise for labouring this point but it's important to clarify this before we move on if need be.

Many thanks!

If the two plugins are now installed correctly, yet your media file still refuses to play in the WebSite X5 preview browser, then it would be really helpful for us to be able to take a closer look at the video file in question.

My webpage does not have a video on it at this time because the software will not allow me to put one on it.

Contrary to what you understandably think, this is not actually the case.  WebSite X5 will quite happily allow you to upload a file to your server online, even if it is not possible for that file to be played back in the WebSite X5 preview browser.

I would like to ask you to insert the troublesome media file into a Video Object in your project, and then go directly to Step 5 of WebSite X5, and 'Upload the Website to Internet' without attempting to preview the video in any way.

Could you then please post a link to the web page where the video is located online, so that we can investigate further?

Many thanks once again!

Paul,

First of all I want to make SURE that I have the 2 files I extracted in the proper location because, I am a bit confused after reading your latest response.  When I downloaded the zip file containing those 2 plug in files, I EXTRACTED IT INTO THE EXTENSIONS FOLDER.  I didn't just open it and move the files.  I checked the folders and  when I open the EXTENSIONS folder, those 2 files are in it.  Is that incorrect?  This is the path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\WebSite X5 v11 Professional\Extensions\Extensions

But you say that is incorrect???

The image you sent doesnt show the files in the folder, just shows the extension folder.

Im sorry but I just don't understand this explanation and I do want to do it correctly.

I have extracted files for years and am not a newbie at this procedure.  Thanks for your patience.

Dear Paul,

OMG!!!  After writing my post, I went back into the extension folder, and saw that the zip file was in there and I told it to extract HERE and then got out of there, tried the video again and it works PERFECTLY!!!!!  The error message is gone, it plays in the preview and I did the preview and it WORKS PERFECTLY.  You are a miracle man.  I cannot THANK YOU enough!!!!!!  Bless you!  You have restored my faith in WEBSITE X5 again!!!  I am in tears, I am soooooo happy and relieved that this issue is fixed.  Thank you Thank you, thank you!!!!!   I still don't understand WHY the extraction into the extension folder did not work, but I don't care at this point.  It is fixed!!!!!

Sincerely,

Fran

You're more than welcome, Fran...  glad everything is up and running for you now

The two files were zipped inside a folder which was in itself called 'Extensions', so it was necessary to delete either the carrier folder, or alternatively the original folder within WebSite X5.  That's why I took pains to try and clarify that a file path ending in ...Extensions/Extensions wouldn't work.

Anyway, it's all good now!

Best wishes,

Paul
