Own templates lost every time I reinstall my computer and my X5.  en

Unfortunately I had to totally reinstall my PC and in the same time my X5. It was successfull, no problem, but after I imported my projects, its template wasn't imported with it, so I have to remake it at all every time when reinstalling is necessary.

In addition X5 always frozen when I am trying to edit the template.

Thanks.

HelloKrisztina Fehér,

This happend only to one project?

Did the image names used in the template contain non latin characters?

What windows Version are you using?

Many thanks!

yeah, the problem with templates happens sometimes and is a pain :(

It would be nice to have an option to do a backup of the full database of the program before formatting the computer.

Anyway, it is late now, but before formatting again you must backup the following folders:

c:/users/*yourname*/AppData/Local/Incomedia

c:/users/*yourname*/MyDocuments/Incomedia

c:/WebSite X5 - Projects    (this is where you're supposed to backup every project after every update)

Then (after formatting) you reinstall those folders and everything will be like it was before including your custom templates.

Hello Luis,

Thank you for your input but I need to clarify your post for the benefit of other readers.

Since version 9 WebSite X5 incorporates an internal library which stores all data relevant to the project (with the exception of MySQL database data)

This means that if a user exports a project as an IWZIP file in Step 5 of WebSite X5 then that file will encapsulate all the data necessary to recreate that particular WebSite X5 project on another computer (or a reformatted hard drive).

Export/import is the recommended way of transferring and archiving projects and data.  Your method may give similar results but could also cause other issues.

Thanks again for your post!  And it is good to see someone advocating regular backups...  this is so important
