Problems importing existing project  en

Hello,

I am having some problems using your import existing project option. I did a complete export of my website and now I want to edit it on another computer with the same software.

I can't import the existing project because I have a .iwp file and WB X5 Evo 10 asks me for .iwzip file.

So if I need to edit my existing website on another pc, what do I need to do ?

Hello F. Fragetico,

The .IWP file extension indicates that the project was created with an older version of WebSite X5.

Evolution 10 will be able to successfully import projects created with version 9 or 10 (with the exception of the Smart 9 edition).  Projects created in version 8 or below are not directly compatible.  See this project conversion guide for more information:

Kind regards,

Paul

So is there any way that my project made in version 8 to be converted in 9 or 10 ?

In your PDF I can only see the 9 to 10 conversion but I need 8 to 10 conversion.

Some members of this community offer assistance with project conversion.  If you have patience then perhaps someone will offer their services.

Otherwise you can copy as much text and as many images as you can from your older project, and paste them into new Text and Image Objects within a new version 10 project.

1. But the conversion from 8 to 10 will not be 100% compatible, am I right ?

2. If I make any direct html changes ( lets say via notepad ), the WebSite X5 8 or 9 or even 10 will adapt to my changes ? Or it only reads the changes made with your software ?

My sincere advice would be to start afresh in version 10, copying the bulk of the text and images as aforementioned.  There were major changes to WebSite X5 following version 8.  Versions 9 through 12 are largely compatible though.

However, if you really want to persevere with project conversion then please follow Samantha's advice in the following thread:

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/97700

Alternatively, you could request help from these fellow forum members:

http://andreweb.nl/x5_test/upload-info.php

http://unofficialwsx5.de/index.php/Thread/2500-Convert-projects-from-Version-7-or-Version-8-to-Version-9-10-11/

Any assistance that they might offer would be entirely voluntary and at their own discretion.  Official support for version 8 has now been withdrawn.

Good luck!
