Defining a page width in pixels  en

May I assume that with the adaptive pages that I can make the page size for a wide screen and then it will adapt down to a smaller screen on a desktop?  For example I would like to make the max size 1200 pixels or so...  If so, where do I change that pixel size so it will carry over to the rest of the page?

Hello William,

The 'desktop' viewport is normally considered to be the largest size you would want to work with, but you can certainly create an extra-wide screen viewport in the Professional version.

Use a custom template and set the width of the 'Header' to 1200 in Step 1 General Settings > Template Style > Main Template Structure > Page Section > Header

Then go to Step 1 General Settings > Responsive Design (tab) and edit the breakpoints so that you have one starting at around 960px or so (you can vary this figure to your liking)  -  you might want to go up to 1050 or 1100px.

Your 'extra wide screen' viewport will then be shown as the 'Desktop Display' in WebSite X5, whilst your 'regular desktop' viewport will be described as 'Viewport 1'  -  study the screenshot attached for an illustration of what I mean.

Don't forget that as you reduce the viewport the contents of your header and footer will change, so be sure to customise your responsive template with that in mind.

Kind regards,

Paul
