Hello Bjorn,

This issue will only occur if the Windows 'user' operating the WebSite X5 program is distinct and different from the 'user' who installed the software.

Please uninstall WebSite X5, then log on to Windows as the actual user who will be operating the program...  then reinstall WebSite X5 with administrative rights by right-clicking on the setup file and selecting 'Run as administrator'.

You may also find it helpful (after installation) to right-click on the program shortcut icon and again select 'Run as administrator'.

Please let us know if you still experience any issues having done all of the above.

Kind regards,

Paul

I am the same user who installed the software. I will test it later to day.

Please have a look at Donald's very explicit instructions in post 4 of this thread:

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/130713#3

Can you confirm that you have followed this procedure in exactly the same way, and the issue remains?

This is to complicated. Website X5 should have a fix for this! I have paid a lot of money and this is very frustrating.

I am a admin on my Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10.

Hello Bjorn,

If you start it with the right click as administrator and in case then you register it if you get asked to activate it the next time you start it again as administrator does it ask you again to activate it?

If yes please check if the antivirus is blocking the program to create the licence file and try to add it to the whitelist so the next time you activate it the licence file will be saved and not deleted by the antivirus.

Many thanks!

Hello Bjorn,

On the same computer you have also Version 11 installed?

If yes do you have the same issue like Version 12?

Try also following:

Please check if under C:\Users\ The Admin username \AppData\Local\Incomedia\ there is a folder called WebSite X5 v12 - Professional and if the licence.iwl file is inside this folder.
If this folder exists and the file is there, copy the folder and paste it under c:\Users\ Your Windows username \AppData\Local\Incomedia and then start the program.

Many thanks!

Hello Bjorn, X5 is quirky with this for sure. I like to run programs under a standard user profile and not as an administrator. But under the standard profile you cannot do the auto update, only as an administrator, so when you do the update as an administrator and then try to run the program as the standard user it will ask for the license every time. So your choice is to run all the time under a Admin profile or change the profile everytime you want to update then back to a standard user.

If you installed under one profile and try to use under another profile it will ask because it was not installed under that profile.

OK, so if you only have one user profile on your surface pro, and that's you the administrator, then you should be able to uninstall X5, download the latest version, reboot and do a fresh install.

Page back thru the questions or do a search as there has been some problems with Win 10. I've got to check this myself. And did you have, or do you now, have X5 installed on another computer?

Hope you get this solved.  Regards Donald

I have done that.

Only this PC.

It would "appear" your problem is tied to your computer and not X5. That some how your download, install and activation was/got corrupted. It can and does happen.

If thats true then X5 would need to be completely removed from your computer, which may include cleaning up the registry. There's not a program on the planet that removes everything when uninstalling.

Assuming your OS is all OK at this point.

How could your install become corrupted? A blip in the net during download. Not turning off Norton, WebRoot, McAffee, Windows Defender and or Win Update. Anything that's set up to function in a automatic way that could start during the "process" and or flag the install or activation in some way.

Yes, this may not be your problem, but if X5 did not install on Win 10 people would be going crazy.  You might check some of the other posts about Win 10 if you have not already.

Clearly, the problem here is with X5. I have many programs installed on my PC, and it is only X5 that has this problem. This has been a problem with X5 for many years.

Hello Bjorn,

If the licence.iwl file is in the appdata folder under the user you are using then it should not request the activation. Can you please check when you start the program if then the licence.iwl file is no longer there?

If this happens it related on problems on the privileges under windows.

Many thanks!
