Hi - does anyone know how to activate the auto-backup option in X5 Evolution 12? I can't see the option under preferences and the project name\backup folder doesn't contain a .iwprj file like it usually would. Thanks!

. . . did you change the folder ?
Normally you will find it at C:\users\...\Incomedia...\Website x5 ... v12 ...

It's a fresh install and the folder is present i.e. the \backup folder is where it should be, but the folder is empty. The option to switch the backup on or off is missing from the preferences, so it looks like the backup needs to be turned on somehow but not sure how to do this?!
. . . a screenshot could help a lot . . .

....and picture 2 shows the preference window in X5 Evolution with no option or mention of backup.
. . . no - the original at start of x5 . . .

I'm sorry I don't understand. This filepath should contain a backup file:
C:\Users\daZZa\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 v12 - Evolution\Orchard IT\Backup
The folder is empty but it should contain a .iwprj file if the backup is working.
In my previous version of X5 there was an option on the preference screen to enable the backup (as per screenshot = Create a Backup Copy every time you save). This is missing in X5 v12. I think this is the problem, I can't enable the backup, there is no option...

Here is a screenshot of the full path. Definitely the correct path, I am the only user on this PC...
Hello Darren,
The backup options are now located in a different part of the software when compared to version 9, as you rightly point out.
Please click the small arrow to the right of the 'Save' button in version 12 (at the top of the screen), where you will see various backup options listed.
Please also read the following extract from the help file, which explains the backup options available in version 12:
http://help.websitex5.com/en/v12/evo/index.html?backup_ht.htm
I strongly recommend exporting the project as an IWZIP file in Step 5 on a regular basis. The IWZIP file encapsulates all of your project data, and can be moved to another computer with ease. It is the ultimate in backup protection when using WebSite X5, in my own personal opinion. I have used this method for years, and never once lost any data.
Kind regards,
Paul

Ah yes I can see it there now, that's perfect - thanks very much! I do try and remember to use the Export option and have used it this time to transfer my projects. Guaranteed though that the one time I forget will be the one time that something goes wrong & I need the backup file...
Thanks again - really appreciated, cheers!
