Hello Andy,
Have you set up your Responsive Template Structure in addition to your Main Template Structure?
You need to create a separate header and footer for the mobile/smartphone viewport in accordance with the instructions in the WebSite X5 help file:
http://help.websitex5.com/en/v12/pro/index.html?responsive_ht.htm
http://help.websitex5.com/en/v12/pro/index.html?responsive_template.htm
You customise the responsive template in Step 1 General Settings > Template Style > Responsive Template Structure - select 'Header' and 'Footer' in turn from the 'Page Section' drop-down menu.
If you want some text in the header image for the responsive template then you can use a free image editor such as Paint to create one.
You can also choose to display a company/organisation logo in lieu of the text. Bear in mind that at mobile resolution the header can become very cramped, so the simpler the better.
Kind regards,
Paul

Thanks paul i appreciate that. I'll get on it and let you know. I also have a problem when viewing on tablet. The tablet doesn't get to see the site. i just get a message saying:
Not Found
The requested URL /view2 was not found on this server
Additionally a 404 Not found error wqs encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I've re uploaded the site again but same error. Also double checked and i havent removed viewport 2 in the responsive design section.
Any ideas?
The site is chalkboardcomics.com
Thanks
Did you at any point make an 'Entry page' with the option to 'Detect the resolution automatically'? (see the screenshot attached)
The problem is that you have two home pages at the moment:
http://chalkboardcomics.com/index.html
and
http://chalkboardcomics.com/home.html
To resolve, either delete the 'Entry page' (from the server as well as within WebSite X5) or alternatively set the correct URL for each breakpoint, as per the screenshot.

Hi Paul,
Thanks again for the reply.
I have done the entry page and it was already set up exactly like it is in the screenshot you sent (thanks for that). I'll send a screenshot back.
I have removed index html from the server and now the site loads but only in desktop mode for all devices.
I'm confused.

how do i delete the entry page from within x5?
also was index.html the correct one to remove from the server?
Delete 'home.html' also from the server... make sure the checkbox for the 'Entry page' in Step 4 of WebSite X5 is NOT ticked... then hold down the 'CTRL' key whilst entering the 'Preview' mode in WebSite X5.
Once the preview has fully loaded (as indicated by the progress bar in the bottom right of the screen) go to Step 5 and export your project to the server once more. Choose the option to export ALL the files, not just the ones modified recently.
Then clear your browser cache and test again.
Just to clarify... if you ever do want to use the 'Entry page' and detect the resolution automatically, then you need to create separate pages for each viewport within WebSite X5. You then 'edit' the /view2 and /view3 URL's and replace them with the names of said pages.
Just adding this as reading back the thread I think you maybe misunderstood my earlier post... apologies if it was a bit ambiguous... the screenshot I attached showed the default settings which have to be edited to suit your own project.

Paul,
I could kiss you! I would have never worked that out on my own.
Last question. Is there a way to have a different headder for each responsive veiw? I can only seem to have one for desktop and one for everything else? So i have to choose from having the logo cut off on portrait view mobiles or really tiny on landscape view tablets.
Thanks again. You're the man
You're welcome, that's what we're here for... to help each other out.
At the present moment it's not possible to have different headers for the various viewports... it's one for the main/desktop template, and one for the responsive template.
However, if you create a custom header for the responsive template which has the logo aligned strictly to the left then you will find you get better results. In other words, don't centre or right-align any text or logo in the responsive header. You can make your own template with an image editor, using the desktop template as a rough baseline if you like.
Try it and you'll see the benefits.
All the best... your site looks great... the cartoons really work on the web!
