Email Send data to a file

No url to post as there is no site as yet, just something i'm playing with/trying to develop.
2 part question:
1. In the email object form theres an option to send data to a file, does this still use the email system or does it bypass it?
2. It asks for a script, where do I find a script for this or can someone give an example?
I'm trying to create a multiple choice input from multiple users but don't want to flood out the email, i'd rather have it stored in a text file so i can see it at my leisure.
Theres no need for feedback (its a scoring system) or for it to be visible on site (its anonymous) which is why I think the Send Data To A File option may be what I'm after.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

The option to send the data to a file bypasses the email system.
You need to create the script manually according to your needs. It can be used in this way for many purposes like as example for a custom mail system or to process the entered data.
If you need to collect the data entered or you use a custom script which then saves all in a txt file or you can use the option to save it in a database which doesn't require any custom script.

Thanks for that where would i get a script from? not my area script writing or databases but have an SQL course planned soon in the meantime if any one could point me to where I can get/see how to write a script be much appreciated.

In my humble opinion his books cannot be bettered. Many of them deal exclusively with PHP/MySQL.

Thanks, there are loads of what I could see to be useful sctipts there yet I'm unable to find anything that sends data to a file.
Also due to being so many scripts I'm not even sure where to look for what I'm after.
Can anyone point me to an actual script that does what I'm after, I've tried searching for send data to a file but am not getting anything, not even sure I'm searching for the right thing but thanks Paul the site above certainly holds 1,000's of possibilities.

Unfortunately there will not be a ready script for what you need and this needs to be done manually. You can use an existing script to start but then you need to adapt it to your needs. Unfortunately I cannot help you with the use of custom code since it doesn't depends on the program. You can search useful information about the custom code with search engines like google or wait until someone on the community of Answers can help you.

Why can't you make a tutorial on how to make a simple script for sending data to a file? There are, certainly, many users who can not make script like this.

The support is for the program functions and a general script tutorial won't work since this function depends completely on the function you need. There are many tutorials available on the internet for custom scripts for these type of functionalities which can be easy used with the program since you need only to add the atribute name in the email form fields accorsind to the ones used in the custom HTML code to make it work.
