Hello,

The software has a way of minimizing the size of the photo on the project so it fits to the cell. But when it uploads it uploads the full size photo that weights a lot.

Is there a way of having the photos being uploaded lighter so that the website doesnt weight to much and run slower?

Or any software properties to upload a small size files or to make the website run faster?

Thankyou

Hello Luis,

What version of WebSite X5 are you using?  What you describe is not standard in current versions.  WebSite X5 will process and optimise the image before uploading to the server.  The reduction in size is significant: for example, a 759KB JPG test image was reduced to 37.9KB using the default Image Object settings.

You can also optimise image size before adding to a WebSite X5 project by using image reduction software, such as these free online utilities:

https://tinyjpg.com/

https://tinypng.com/

You are absolutely right that it is best practice to minimise image file sizes: however, WebSite X5 already does this by default.

If you are having particular difficulty with any image(s) then please attach a sample image along with details of how you are adding the image to WebSite X5 and we will investigate further.

Kind regards,

Paul

OOOh, ok, so when i add an image and make it fit to the cell, even if the image is bigger than the cell it will upload the size that the software reduced it to ?

Yes, it will reduce/minimise/optimise the file size in each case.  Make some tests on your own server.  Compare local file size before uploading, with remote file size on the server.

It appears that WebSite X5 intelligently adjusts the file size as required...  an image held in a smaller cell will have a smaller file size than the same image placed in a larger cell.  But in all cases the file size will be reduced from the original, and by quite a large margin.

Once again, please don't hesitate to revert to us with specific details if you are experiencing otherwise.

Best wishes...
