Shopping cart image issue  en

Hello again,

I have an issue with some of the images on digitalfishart.com

When clicking on the images they open in a larger window so the customers can see what they are purchasing. it was working fine but i have made the images larger and after that many of them did not load. they just gave an error. I have gone into the server and replaced all the pictures and no longer getting the error but they are taking longer to load and some of them (towards the end) dont load at all, they just hang.

We have tried reuploading all the website files, delesting the files folder where the images are loaded and reuploading. This just makes none of the images work and i have to re add them manually to the server again which results in slow loading and some hanging.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

Just to give you an update.

I have removed the files folder from the server, renamed all the images on my computer and relinked them inx5. I am using the option to open link as files in showbox and have the width set to 1000 (if you try to do it with no link and set the width to 1000 it doesn't work, just stays the same size when users click to open it).

Now none of the images work. i have checked the server and they have uploaded correctly but we are getting the following error (see attachment).

I'm getting pretty close to pulling my hair out over this one so i hope one of you lovely geniuses know how to resolve this one.

Thanks again!

...in my opinion your images are too heavy. Firstly you need to reduce the weight of the images uploaded: trough a program (I'm using Gimp or Irfanview) you resize all thumbs with the same dimension, with .jpg extension. If you wish to use showbox, 1000 it seems to me very esagerate, use the hints for default (max 840x....) One more suggestion, try to use the object image zoom (a small amount of credits from Incomedia) instead to show so big images, you could obtain twoo results reducing the weight of your pages and giving a more professional aspect at your site.

Hopeful you find an easy solution, my best regards.

Gabriele.

Hi,

Thanks for the information Gabriele.

The files are tiny, thay have already been compressed and are only around 1mb each. i found the problem is i am transfering the x5 file to someone else to upload. When x5 uses this showbox image trasfering the file to another machine doesn't link the images as for some reason the showbox tries to take them again from the computer rather than from the x5 file itself. after replacing all the files on the server manually it seems better but they load up slow and some hang. i'm going to try to deleate the files again and reupload the x5 file instead of doing it manually. which is a pain because i only get 50gb a month. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome.

Thanks again for the advice

Yeah that did it. thanks gabriele.

It's a shame that using the show box image feature prevents you from exporting the file to move it to another computer. When you do that the files are not linked anymore as they can't find the file path to the images on the new machine.
