I downloaded v12 /cleverbridge reference number: 86796075/ I can only export and ftp with Filezilla. The password, username and ftp site are correct as Filezilla uploads fine. (Well sometimes it takes a while to connect..... that may be the problem with x5 -- time out and no retry.) But x5v12 still gives error . I added ftp/folder and went to my firewall settings to allow the program, but still no upload from the program.
Also I cannot select "only upload new modifications". I have no idea how to only select those with Filezilla. so must reload the entirt site.
My website loaded fine with Filezilla

Hello Richard,
When you say that "x5v12 still gives error", what is the exact error message you receive?
Your second issue (only uploading recently modified files) is related to the first, as this option only becomes available after an initial upload of ALL project files to the server using the WebSite X5 FTP engine.
Kind regards,
Paul

I sent a reply yesterday, but it's not here.
The program has NEVER uploaded. Error is "failed to connect" Contact your provider." I have verified ftp and pasword and retyped several times to no availI can export entire projext and use filezillel -- same settings... no problem. I exported to a file and transferred to my laptop --second download of x5, stilll same error.
Original problem... x5v9 would lock up when previewed page. uninstalled and reinstall, but then elderly computer developed a big issue, so got a new computer. lost x5 data, and got a disount to v12, but had to take a lot of time to rebuild the site befoere I could attempt to upload. When I did try, I got the error.
Unfortuantely, I do not have the screen shot that I sent with the previous post (that did not post.)

sorry about the mis spellings...... That should have been I used Filezilla and no problem uploading. The problem is that I have to overwrite everything.
It is difficult to troubleshoot this without access to your FTP credentials. You may want to consider setting this thread as 'Private' (by clicking on the small padlock icon at the bottom right of your first post), which will allow you to communicate with Incomedia securely, and share confidential details, etc.
I realise that you believe you are entering the correct FTP username and password, etc in Step 5, but unfortunately it is quite possible that this is not the case. Please see this thread for an example of what I mean:
https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/104283
There are many different permutations in Step 5 - in particular be careful when setting or disabling the 'Passive FTP' option, and the 'Destination folder' - you could also try connecting via SSH (SFTP) as an alternative to FTP... WebSite X5 supports this and it is extremely secure.
Please also make certain that your firewall(s), antivirus and anti-spyware, etc. have rules in place which will allow WebSite X5 to connect to the server without hindrance.

You are correct. The user name and password were not quite correct. The user name they had on the system.... ended in a "1", but that turned out to be one of their tecs trying to solve my problem, and not changing back. The password was supposed to have letter "O", but was entered as number "0". They applogized for all this wasted time. I had to go to the provider's office, rather than solve on the phone, so they could see how x5 was entering thier system.
So one problem is sloved.... I did finally get x5 to upload ftp. I tried to make a simple correction.... deleated something then rput it back. Even tho it did save the new one, it would not up load only changes, but I think I did not make a "real change"... so I have to wait until I have something else to add. I did change my firewall settings early on in this endeavor.
I'll leave it a public post, as it may help someone else not to assume they are entering correctly, just becasue they are entering what someone at the provider wrote down. this only showed up when they compared passwords, and the font happened to use zero with a line.... like the Greek letter Theta.. "Way back when". they did offer to just reset password to a completely new one...... but File zilla was working, so I did not want to mess that up... I knew it worked and thought it a zero. So that is what I put into x5 paremeters. .. When I viewed the pw..... the zero/letter O was not apparent. It could also happen with letter 'l" and number "1" with some fonts... Unless the change upload does not work, I will consider this post completed.
Thank you for your patience and time. Richard.
