Using Excel in X5

All my data for my website (which was NOT built using X5) is contained in Excel.
If I want to use this in X5 am I right in thinking I will have to convert all this data to a Database e.g. Access, then upload this to my website host and get the data from there?
Is there no way of accessing data from my laptop, I'm often away with no internet access and like to work on my website offline.

I am not sure what you have in excel (what kind of data? code or info for your site ? passwords ? text ? plain data you want on your site ?)
So it's difficult to answer.
If you have office on your desktop and x5 installed, then you have both, and you can work offline.
But i probably don't understand the question ...
Hello Brian,
It's not clear exactly how you want to use your Excel data in WebSite X5, but the following information might be useful to you.
There is a CSV Viewer Object available which integrates with WebSite X5:

WebSite X5 does not support Access databases, but has native support for MySQL.
Kind regards,
Paul
I copy and paste direct from Google sheets - that works perfectly. I copy a whole Google sheet at a time into a dynamic object. See http://steeplewood.org.uk/church-services.php
Originally I uploaded Excel to Google but now I just work in Google.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Duncan, I think for me that would be quite a big job, I have loads of stuff in Excel.

I don't think I explained myself very well there, I'll try again.
Excel contains all my contact details, football results in calculated tables, a bunch of other tables and Fixtures.
Using my current web site builder I copy and paste any/all of this information into the page then upload to the web server and it's alll there on the web site (www.cdsfl.org.uk).
I thought this program would allow me to have my Excel files stored on the web server then a selected few people could update the information in those Excel files, then the dynamic part of X5 would pick up the changes and display them on the web site automatically.
Have I got that all wrong?
Thanks for your patience here!!
Hello Brian,
At the moment it is not possible to have this feature in WebSite X5. I would like to suggest that you open an "Idea" Post where you describe to us the feature you would like to see implemented in the future releases of WebSite X5.
Many thanks!
Hi Brian!
You should put your data into a DB on your host server (probably MySQL). With a little PHP programming it is very easy to display whatever you need then on your pages in X5 too with code objects. You will find lots of examples in the web.
To update the data in the MySQL DB I can recommend a tool called "PHP Generator for MySQL" what is even in its free version very powerful and with which you automatically build a kind of independent admin-interface ("own website") for your data.
If you look at www.austriabarockakademie.at this site is built with X5 but is 90% database driven (even most of the texts is retrived dynamically from a DB). Works really well.
Greetings,
Dieter
