What does the test in your admin panel say ? your website with /admin behind it, login is found in x5, step 4 acces management.
Sure that there is no spam blocker on server end or on pc / firewall / in mail program ?
checked spam filter ? Sure email is correct ?
I hope these pointers set you on the right track.
Goodluck, else let me / us know.

Thank you,I'll try your comments. Spam blocker is turned off on server. Email is my own that I'm using to test.

I have X5. 12 professional.. I opened Access Management, under Groups/Users, there is a prompt Administration... I double clicked on Admin and User Settings opened, I added the email I wanted to use. Clicked ok. Refreshed, Saved and Ftp to server.

Thank you, Gabriel P. I'll try your suggestion.
Sorry, I was not clear.
In the acces management you will find the admin login name and the admin password for your website adminpanel.
so go to your website, add behind your website adres /admin, like this for instance:
http://yourownwebsiteadres.com/admin
This will open your admin panel, use the password found in x5 acces management to enter this adminpanel. there you can test your mail settings and also your webhost setting (use test button) you should get all green test results. And you can test mail on several scripts.
The mail adres from the questbook that you want to get a mail from if someone has added a comment is set in the guestbook object itself.
do the test and see if the results give you a clou about what's wrong.

Thank you, I tested the options. The word PASS on the top three lines, remained Green. In the Log on the bottom of the screen showed,
PHP SMPT failed, I'm going to call my server and ask about the username and port.
In that case you might have an hosting package without php support, or mailing does not work with php with your host. In both cases they can help you on your way.
So check if you have php support in the package you bought at your hosting company, if not you need it for mailing. ask also if they support mailing through php (some host have other options, but you still need the php option for other functions.
goodluck.
