Am I able to import a website created by another programmer? I have clients that want to update and freshen up their website. Am I able to ftp their files into my PC and redesign their website in X5? Is X5 only used to create new sites only? Do you have a program that can help in my need to work with websites designed by others?

Hello Alan,

"Am I able to import a website created by another programmer?"  Yes, but only if the exported website is in WebSite X5 format (which means a file with .iwzip extension)

"I have clients that want to update and freshen up their website. Am I able to ftp their files into my PC and redesign their website in X5?"  No, this is not possible.

"Is X5 only used to create new sites only?"  Not sure what you mean exactly...  existing X5 sites can be modified and updated as often as you like within the software.

"Do you have a program that can help in my need to work with websites designed by others?"  To my knowledge there are no programs available which offer a conduit or conversion to native WebSite X5 format.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you, I looked up iwzip files and see they are for X5. So I suppose I'll have to tell my clients that a totally new website design should be created. I might be able to recreate their template.  Again thank you. Paul M.

Is the iwzip extention common or only used by X5?

It is WebSite X5's own proprietary format  -  it's basically just all the project data rolled up into one big zipped file.  However, it wouldn't be of much use outwith WebSite X5.

WebSite X5 is an HTML generator.  It's not designed to interface with other WYSIWYG web builder software, or import raw HTML/CSS.
