Hi guys,

How do I stop fake orders, with fake email addresses from ordering on my site? We have had malicious orders.

How also can we see their IP address and report them?

Using WebSite X5 Evolution 11, Windows 7 PC

Thank you

I'm no specialist but this is one of the reasons why I submitted a request for development of the web form functionality so that it includes IP capture. That said, many people today use IP hiding and/or VPN software so the IP address may be just as false as the email address they submit. I doubt you could report an IP address to anyone other than a spam blacklisting organization.

Personally, I would rethink the method you are using for processing orders. Whilst some may not like PayPal or Amazon payments, both provide you with the protection you require against fake orders. All my sites use PayPal. In the last 16 years I have only had one order that got rejected due to not passing PayPal's security checks.

Frankly, you should be able to sense when something looks fishy.
2 weeks ago I received an order with a mobile phone # of 06 11 11 11 11. That instantly made me raise an eyebrow. A quick check showed that the number exists but belongs to someone other than the person placing the order. The name provided didn't exist at the address given either. Even though I am covered by PayPal's seller protection, I refunded the order immediately on the basis of suspected fraud.

Salvatore, Adrian is spot on!!

Payment only by paypal and then if a corresponding payment is not received with the order you can decide whether to request prompt payment.

To make it more annoying for time wasters I increase the number of mandatory fields. It would be nice if we could request confirmation of email address and a check question as on email forms.
