Good day,

I am now moving to the next step of web development, where I am starting to use a database. I tried to find training material on databases for Website X5 Professional, but the information is very limited.

Are there any detail documentation and video tutorials available to guide me through the process?

Thank you,

Chris

Hello Chris,

The first step is to create the database (empty, without table) on your server. you will need the documentation of your hosting.

after, in websiteX5, integrated help should be enough. You will need : database name, user's database name and his password, and for host, it's usually ''localhost''.

Hello Chris,

The official WebSite X5 help file is extremely comprehensive and detailed.  You haven't stated what you want to use the database for, so it is difficult to point to a specific section of the help file other than the general settings:

To use databases in WebSite X5 it is not necessary to understand how they work, as WebSite X5 encapsulates the database and provides a user-friendly front end instead.

It is usually sufficient to simply connect to and read/write information from/to the database, and the WebSite X5 help file explains how to do this in each section of the various Objects which offer database access.  Vincent's information above is also useful in this regard.

If you want to learn about databases in general then you could ask Google as there is an expansive amount of tutorials and videos freely available on the internet:

Kind regards,

Paul
