Housekeeping of imported files  en

I have a page containing a TEXT object. Inside this object I create a series of links to PDF files.

If I delete the TEXT object, will X5 automatically delete all the PDF files associated with it, or will I have to do it manually one by one ?

Thanks

Hello Karel,

WebSite X5 never deletes any files which it uploads to the server.  It only updates existing files with the same filename with versions with a newer timestamp.

All other files (including redundant ones) must be deleted manually.

However, if you delete the Text Object you refer to from your project, then the software will not attempt to re-export the PDF files on subsequent occasions.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply. Guess what you are saying is that I have to delete files manually in order to avoid having them forever in my project or disk backups, even if they've become useless.

Files need to be deleted manually on the server...  but if you remove an Object from your project such as the Text Object you refer to, then any dependencies (linked files) should be excluded automatically by WebSite X5 when exporting or backing up the project in future.

If for any reason you find this is not the case, then try holding down the 'CTRL' key whilst entering the Preview mode in WebSite X5, then re-export your project.
