Text editing and font size  en

Hi,

I am creating a new website and I found an issue on this and other websites I have done where some text when I view the source code is contained in <span class="fs15"></span> and some is not. I see no logic to where the breaks are.

I have a test site here: http://www.sunrise-arts.co.uk/ac/

The first text box has this span on part of the 3rd sentence

We fit new facias, soffits, gutters and all ridge tile work such as re-pointing, dry ridge and also dry verge. We also install and repair flat roofs using our Fibre Flat GRP system for a

I have no idea why the span is on that sentence alone and ends in the middle of it.

The second text box I copied the text into notepad and copied it back and there is no <span class="fs15"></span>

You would never be aware of any difference looking on a PC or tablet it looks fine, however on Microsoft Edge on a windows mobile if you have 'ease of access text above 100% then the paragraphs without span have the words huge. Not an issue on Gooogle app on windows Phone.

Anyway, should my text be all contained in a <span> and why is some but not all of it, it is a shame there is no 'code' view so you can see what is entered like on Opencart editor.

Thanks, Mike.

Hello Mike,

The text in this text object was typed directly in the program or did you copy it from a Word Editor and then pasted it in the program?

Many thanks!

Hi,

the first text object was pasted in from notepad, and then edited.

the second text object was pasted from notepad and has no <span class="fs15"> elements

It sems strange where the span occurs in the first text block anyway.

the text with the <span class="fs15"> is the only bit that dispalys ok on edge browser on a phone when text size is zoomed on the phone.

Should I have this span or not in a text block and how can I control when it does or does not occur?

thanks, Mike.

Hello Mike,

Generally when you edit the text in the program and as example you change the aspect like font size, type, color or you set parts in bold then the program adds these tags.

Try on the second object to select all text and then use the button to remove the format and then check it again.

Many thanks!

Hi,

Yes I can remove the format. But then any text without the formatting shows in very large font on microsoft edge for mobile when you have an enlarged text for ease of access. I aam attaching a photo from my phone.

I get this on my other website x5 sites but not on other sites on the internet, they all look fine.

So infact it would be better to force the formatting for all text.

How do I get round this?

Thanks.

Hello Mike,

Once you removed the formatting add it again by using the options in the program directly in the text editor so it will be added correctly.

Please keep me updated.

Hi,

This doesn't do anything because I have set up the default font to be Tahoma 11pt so when I remove formatting, when I highlight the text and select Tahoma or 11pt it doesn't add anything.

I can see that if I then selected say Ariel 12 it would.

So is the only way round this select a default font you dont want and then change it in every cell? This would seem wrong.

Also though I can select Tahoma 11pt as a default font, if you have any other font as default you can't select Tahoma 11 in the text editor, only 8, 10, 12 etc.

I like to use 11pt as it is more readable than 10pt but 12pt uses up too much space.

Thanks.

Hello Mike,

What I meant is to select the text also if it appears correctly and then apply the font settings.

Just do it on one object to see if then this appaears correctly.

Many thanks!

Yes I understood what you meant.

I tried it on the first paragraph but it doesn't add the <span class="fs15"> I presume it is beacause I am just selecting and applying what it already is ( the default )

'<b>A Class Fascias</b>' is a family business working mostly on recommendations. We undertake all roofing work from small leaks and replacing broken tiles to installing new roofs. We fit new facias, soffits, gutters and all ridge tile work such as re-pointing, dry ridge and also dry verge. We also install and repair flat roofs using our Fibre Flat GRP system for a long lasting solution to flat roof leakage.<div><br></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>All our work comes with a 15 year guarantee and 35 year guarantee on flat roofs.</b></div><div><div><br></div><div>Our company is based in Derby and we serve the Midlands area including: Wolverhampton, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Nottingham &amp; Birmingham. Call us now on 0800 292 7389 for any of the roofing services below.</div></div></div>

And as I said if I chose a different font and font size from the default, then it would, but it would be odd to set the default to a font you don't want, just so you can apply another one! Anyway in the text editor if I had the default to Ariel 10 I wouldn't be able to select Tahoma 11 because it wouldn't appear as an option, it is only an option as a default text setting.

Hello Mike,

Obvioulsy if the default font is set in the css style then there's no need to set it again as vaue for every object. This is done generally by the CSS file.

I this the issue you experience with the text comes from a bug in the browser of the OS used because it should not behave in this way according the the HTML code used.

Many thanks!
