Copy of web site not up to date  en

Hi Guys

I do pretty much all of my work on my desktop.  However, as a backup, or to cover any breakdowns, or if I travel I also have Website X5 on my laptop.

When I have made an update to the site on my desktop I save it, then in the exoprt module I save the files to disk, save the project to disk then uplaod the revised web site.  Then I copy the new web site files and project file to a USB stick.

On my laptop I delete these files, copy the files from the USB stick to the laptop, open Webite X5, delete the project then import the latest project file.

This has been working well so far, but after the last revision which was adding more names to a page, I updated my laptop with the latest files then opened the project in Website X5.  I went to the page that I'd revised but the new additions were not there!

Am I doing something wrong?

Regards

Graham

That's strange, it should work.

It is not needed to make a copy of the websitec (save file to disk), just export the project and import that file with your laptop.

Try it again, or watch out next time and make an extra check by opening the project (if you have the time for that).

Let us know if it happens again.

Thanks Andrea.  Needed to be told it should work as I thought I was going mad!  It has worked in the past.  Next time I'll use a diifferent USB stick and report back.

No problem, let's hope it was just a one time issue.

Hi Guys.

After thinking about it and applying some logic (pity I did not do this before postingt this thread) now sorted!

Before I started using my laptop and USB stick for backup I had created a back up on my desktop.  I was copying this back up file that has not been updated since using my laptop!  what a wally I am.  This has now been deleted to prevent further occurrances.

I'll put it down to a senior moment.  Feel free to laugh your socks off and pass it round your office.

Thanks for the feedback, and no laughs here. Things like that can always happen.
