WEBPAGE LOST and unrecoverable - Error document XML [0,0]  en

Author: Luis S.

Yesterday I was finishing a webpage and suddently a crash froze X5 and I had to close it, then I went to open the project and got this error and I was not able to recover it since no backup was made and the project file was corrupt  (0 kb).

I lost 2 hours of work and the webpage had to be redone from scratch, even tough I ALWAYS, CONSTANTLY SAVE MY WORK!

The program was updated to the last version, how can this kind of bugs still be present in the program man!!! foot-in-mouth

I agree, goor point Luis, this error comes up too often.

It should not be that all is lost after this error.

Incomedia, please see if there is a way that recovery can be made with this error, or a better backup. It is usually over and out if you do not have a backup project, or an automatic backup after upload.

And if you start off first time then you don't keep making these just in case something goes wrong, you are busy with the new webssite most of the time.

Thanks!

Hello Luis,

In the saving options it is set to create a backup the  first time you save the project?

With this option the program makes a backup of the project as soon as you save it the first time after opening it.

Many thanks!

Hey claudio, I always keep it configured that way, but it happened anyway and everything got lost.

Right now I'm updating a project I made a month ago and the element JSSOR is getting corrupted in every page it was inserted and I'm forced to restore it every time.... and in the middle of that... CRASH, X5 stopped working error, this is frustrating AF!

Can you please point me to the instructions (or give me the list) of the required windows files/programs/complements in order to restore them all and see if it makes any difference?

Regards.

Hello Luis,

here are the links to the visual C++ libraries:

2010 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
2012 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
2013 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

for the .NET Frameworks I need to know which windows version you are using.

About JSSOR can you please copy the content of the details tab when it crashes and paste it here so I can see what causes it?

Many thanks!

Thanks Claudio!

Jssor does not crashes X5 (the crash I commented was one of the regular crashes after pressing preview), the problem is that the slider gets corrupted and I must create it again, this happens with older projects (created before the latest update).

Regards!

Hello Luis,

In which Version was Jssor added?

Do you mean the objet is no longer shown or does an error appears?

Many thanks!

I encounter the same error AGAIN and lost a couple of hours of work, WTF is wrong with the devs that are not capable of finding this bug?

Claudio, sometimes i think it is like a good comedy - still the same error, still the same data lost and still the same useless answers... But lost a few hours of work is not a comedy and i am still thinking how users are treaten as idiots in EU...

Luis, I had one imported project that caused me continual grief. In my case I was able to create a stable project by saving the original as iwzip, closing the project and then importing the newly created iwzip - perhaps you may have similar success? I also make liberal use of the down arrow next to the save icon to create a backup copy whenever I feel like it.

Does your project have many large images (eg bigger than 1024px wide before placing in WX5)?

@Claudio, thanks for taking the time to answer, but I last updated to the version that was released as a big (gift?) update and had a lot of crashes so I had to revert to the backup version I had, since then I decided not to update because at least this version crashes less (LESS) than the others.

-

Anyway I may try the latest version, but I sincerely do not think this issue is fixed :/

-
@Esahc .. The problem generates randomly in any project (not imported), but mainly when editing the position and size of the menu and or when editing content in header or footer.

When this happens, every single backup is deleted, and the only thing that is left is the preview inside the preview folder.

I'm using w10 updated to the latest version.

Luis, you are saying that the backup folder gets deleted, and all backups therein?

That's correct, the backup files inside backup folder are all deleted, this is the example path:

C:\Users\Luis\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 v13 - Professional\example_project_folder...

And inside that folder, the folowing files are present:

Backup (folder)

Library (folder)

Preview (folder)

Upload (folder)

backups.xml

backupsbu.xml

heights.dat

library.xml

librarybu.xml

metadata.xml

metadadabu.xml

previej.jpg

project.iwprj

-

So when a "regular" crash/error occurs, and we have backups of our project, those may be restored from inside "Backup" folder... but when this bug happens, every backup file inside that folder gets deleted and the file "project.iwprj" is corrupted beyond repair (0 KB).

This mostly happens when editing and previewing multiple times the header, menu and submenu and/or modifying sizes and positions of different components (of menu or header/footer).

If you need any more data, please ask, I use this program on a regular basis (I Ihave done over 200 web pages) so I know it pretty well.

Regards.

If this is true I am astounded!

If you go to project selection, highlight your project, select backup, you're saying there are no longer a selection of backups to choose from even though you have manually created backups from the down arrow next to save??

Please advise, because if this is the case I am about to totally change by backup regime :-(

What exact message you get when these crashes happens?

I would suggest you to try to install the latest update since many issues have been fixed and this could help in your case.

Try to download the latest installer and then install it and let me know if you still experience the isseu and which exact message do you receive.

Let me also know which windows version do you use.
