Adding Luxcal sidebar  en

There are some great articles here (mainly from John S) about adding the LuxCal calendar to your X5 website, which mean that this excellent calendar can be used on your pages.

But there seems to be very little (or nothing) on how to integrate the LuxCal sidebar into your X5 page.

I have tried follwoing the LuxCal guidance, but it doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone a simple guide on how to do this?

The example on John's site looks good, and I want to do that myself, with views of upcoming events filtered by category on different pages.

Many thanks to all.

My calendar is on www.whitehaven-methodist-circuit.org.uk/calendar.html

It helps a lot if you tell us what you did already and why that did not work?

I have the luxcal calender for many years, I heave not tested the sidebar yet and i mainly use it stand alone.

Maybe john can help, else I will take a look but again it helps if you give us some information on why and where it failed on your end, else we need to guess or write  the complete procedure, and that is given on luxcal already....

Hello Andrew ( Andy ? )

I guess You refer to : http://www.calendarforum.dk

You are right - I have a "blank" page where there should have been a guide to integrate the display.

If it is a simple display, It is the same way as the calendar, but put the URL for the display instead of that for the calendar, in the src.

If You want to use a display that shifts when clicking on different links ( target ) , You have to wait for the “new” page.

I will finish the description to "Integrating the display" , later today.

So - look at : http://www.calendarforum.dk/integrating-sidebar-x5.html

later today

Hope You will be helped.

Kind regards

John S.

Hello Andre

The method described by LuxCal for displaying Upcoming events as a Sidebar (in the Installation Guide) requires addition of a javascript link in the page Header text. Not sure how to do that, so I tried adapting John's method for adding a whole calendar using an iframe. But it didn't work!

I'm just about to try John's new method and will report back.

Andy

Hello John

It works! With your help, guidance and examples, and reading the LuxCal guide again I have managed to get a filtered list of upcoming events showing as a sidebar.

http://www.whitehaven-methodist-circuit.org.uk/st-bees.html

I now have to repeat that on otherpages, as you suggested, and I am done.

Many thanks, and very best wishes

Andy
