My demo version of pro 13 put my project in a folder I can no longer open. This has happened twice. When I try to click on the folder, nothing happens. It's like my project disappeared! Where is it? Why wouldn't it appear in the project selection to open it? I am using the demo. I don't want to pay for it if I think it's just going to randomly delete all my hardwork. The demo should not do this either.

You will never lose a project, it could be that the folder is not correctly set. I am not sure if the demo has the folder set option, but if this is what you need to do.
search for your project on your harddrive *.iwprj file. you need to set the folder above this file as your preference folder. This is done in the startupscreen -> preference.
After that you should see your project again.
In x5 you never have to alter this so it's strange that it is gone. or changed. You also never have to deal with the files x5 makes on your drive, just let them all be and it should be fine.
