You could use X5 as a container for a dirctory software.

On this site ( built with X5 Ver. 13 pro - could be Evolution) I use the free software ADMIDIO to present links and to manage the downloads.

You can see an example, where the link directs to a video on youtube when clicked, and clicking the icon, will make the same video to be played in an iframe.

To present the links, I use ADMIDIO in iframes. You can set an iframe up, to only show links in certain categories as I have done here : http://www.energifremtiden.dk/c4d/tutorials-level-1.html

It will give an impression of some of the things you can do with the X5-software.

And  - ADMIDIO is based on a MySQL database, so you can have many thousands of links without problems.

And - as you can see you can categorize the links, and you can have text and images for each link. You can even have other links in the text, or make an image a link. This could be useful if you had a link, where  you also wanted to show sub-links ( home page and then specific pages on the site )
