Heading Tags by James Becker  en

For some reason, I cannot add a response to James Becker's earlier post on Heading Tags. So I had to start a new post.

I tested the Heading Tag (H1) by adding a Title Object in place of my previously existing Text Object. I used the same padding for each cell and the same text justification (centered text).

Everything looks fine in full-screen mode, however, in the responsive viewport (480 px) the padding and text positioning is "ignored" in the Title Object and the text jumps into in the top left corner of the web page instead of maintaining its proper padding and its positioning. With the Text Object, everything looks fine in the small viewport.

So, at this time, it appears you can use the Title Object to improve your SEO ranking, but you have to live with a website that looks plain ugly in the smaller viewports.

I've chosen to maintain a good-looking site rather than concern myself with SEO tags. However, I would love if the Title Object behaved properly so that I could incorporate the SEO advantage and ALSO have a great-looking website in all the viewports.

Hopefully, Incomedia will fix this problem.

Hello Myron,

Do you refer to the cell style options of the object?

Can you please send me a screenshot of the used settings?

You can also add manually the heading tags in the text object by enabling the HTML code option and then adding the text between the tags <h1> </h1> as example.

Many thanks!

Hello Claudio,

The following short video clip (5 mins.) clearly demonstrates an apparent "bug" when using the Title Object in Website X5. This tool does not honour margin spacing in small viewports, which does work properly when the Text Object is used.

Please let me know what you think about this problem.

Hello Claudio,

I love the idea of "enabling the HTML code option" inside the TEXT OBJECT.

It's a really nifty feature that I hadn't paid much attention to before!

Thank you.

Hi Claudio,

Today, I added numerous <h1> </h1>, <h2> </h2>, <h3> </h3>, and <h4> </h4> tags to my website as you suggested above.

After uploading the new site, I went to a couple of SEO analyzer sites. They both reported that the site has no Heading Tags. See the attached screen shot.

Why are all the tags I added being ignored?

Hello Myron,

Thank you for the video. I notified it to the developers.

Can you please write me the link to your website so I can verify why it is not finding the heading tags?

Many thanks!

The site is http://www.lambertpaving.com

Incidentally, I just tested the Title Object and I specified an H1 tag on several pages. None of them were found by the SEO online tools.

So it appears that both methods fail to produce detectable H-tags.

Rather disappointing.

Hello Myron,

I verified the page shown on the video ( http://www.lambertpaving.com/asphalt-paving.html ) and on this one I found h1, h2 and h3 tags in it by verifying the source code.

I also tested it with an online service like https://www.seotesteronline.com/ and it found on the same page the same heading tags I saw in the source code of the page.

Probably the tool used is not finding them. It is better to verify directly the source code since sometimes these tools do not show the correct results.

Many thanks!

Hello Claudio,

Thank you for looking into this.

The online SEO testing tool rated my site at only 45% and made many recommendations, yet Website X5 gave my site a score of 100%. Is there a way to implement most of the SEO testing tool's recommendations, or are they not possible because of how Website X5 generates its page code?

Hopefully, the next update (v.14) will do a better job with regard to SEO optimization.

Hello Myron,

Every SEO testing tools used different values to analize the websites but it is always better to use the tools offered by the search engines since these ones are the ones who will use this data.

The tool in our program is set to follow the rules set by the search engines to get the best result.

Many thanks!
