I've been using WebSite X5 13 Evolution for a few days now and have discovered it does not catch spelling or typing errors.  How can that be?

How do I run spell check on my website?

I would strongly suggest to create an idea post for that so that Incomedia can create a future like that in futere update/releases.

At the moment it is not possible in x5, maybe something can be done with custom code?

There are also browser that have this, Maybe open up one of them with the preview? (copy preview adress and past it in a browser with spel check)

I think it should work, but never tested it myself.

That's what I was afraid of.  Unbelieveable this software doesn't have spell check.
Thank you.

I can preview the site in a browser but the spelling errors don't show up.  It is a pain to have to paste everything into Word to catch errors.  A real waste of time.

Has the browser you use the add on for spelling check installed? I think chrome has one, but I don't use it myself....

As a former senior software engineer with over 35 years of experience, I don't understand why this excellent program doesn't have an incorporated spell checker. There are any number of dictionary files in the various languages X5 Evolution 14 supports that could be included in the installation program. Give the purchaser the opportunity to specify what languages are to be supported and have those files included in the download or purchased media.

I find that reviewing the media in a third-party browser before publishing is a clugey way of doing system development and having to develop text in a word processor then copy it into your desired page is a poor way of doing development.

This topic is near and dear to my heart because I have, like the OP, been surprised and disappointed by the omission of a spell checker in WebSite X5. I've even ranted about it in previous posts. I used my time and researched the availability of multi-language spell checkers and found two that were both open source (one of them is used in the open source office suite LibreOffice). In my excitement and anticipation for the inclusion of a sorely needed feature, I rushed the information to Incomedia so its developers could incorporate the open source spell checker into an upcoming release. I'm unclear as to why it has not yet happened, and I'm mystified by the design decisions that apparently make it so hard to add a spell checker.

In the meantime, however, I found a workaround that is acceptable. There is an old-school style TSR program called tinySpell (www.tinyspell.com) that can be used with WebSite X5 for real-time spell checking. I'm using it right now as I type this post since there is also no spell checker incorporated into the user forum. The current version, as of this writing, is 1.9.62. There is both a free version and a commercial version called tinySpell+. The "plus" version is only $10 and has more features and allows for more control over how the program works. I use the "plus" version and I know it works with WebSite X5 (and this user forum).

Keep in mind as a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) program, it loads into memory and stays there until the PC is shut off or the software is inactivated. It can be turned on and off from the Windows Taskbar. I mention this because it can drive you crazy as it checks the spelling of everything you type, and in most cases you don't need it because virtually every other application has its own built-in spell checker. But in the case of WebSite X5, just activate (turn on) the tinySpell program and it provides effortless real-time spell checking while you populate the content for the site you're working on.

I hope this helps.
