X5 Hangs on Upload (FTP)  en

Friends

On two occasions, after selecting to Upload the Website to Internet, X5 hangs.

This happens after various changes so that almost the whole website is being uploaded.

1) It proceeds in selecting the pages

2) It uploads them all

3) It then hangs on the page shown in the attachment.

4) I am running X5 version 13.1.7.20 under Windows 10 Pro x64.

Please do something about this as on two occasions, I lost a lot of work. It is difficult to keep saving to avoid such hangs.

Thank you

Akram Najjar

"I lost a lot of work. It is difficult to keep saving to avoid such hangs." Saving everything so frequently is a bit annoying...but surely much better than losing everything you just made. I have a network attached storage device that runs 24/7 and I do backups there before uploading when I want to be sure I don't lose anything.

I am hoping that Version 14 makes saving incremental backups automated and easy to set up, but I am amazed at the number of users on the forum who ignore one of the basic practices of computing: backup, backup. backup! I know, we all do it at one time or another (and pay the price sometimes) but usually after your first data loss (or Windows reinstall) the lesson is learned...

I have (so far) never had the issue that Akram Najjar has experienced - I can understand his frustration.

Akram, please check if this happens if you first hold CTRL down whilst selecting preview (this will clear the cache and force update of all pages) and/or clicking on Save before the upload.

For what it is worth, I always save before upload, and I make frequent use of the backup option (down arrow next to save) and have not had this issue.

Thanks for your comment and Wayne's.

It would then be a good option to place a check box on the EXPORT TO INTERNET page for saving before uploading.

Thanks

Dear Esahc

Despite Wayne's slightly patronizing remark: " amazed at the number of users on the forum who ignore one of the basic practices of computing: backup, backup. backup", I do backup. Every 10 minutes. Every 3 hours. Daily and 2 full disk images each night. No need to be reminded of that.

BUT the upload fail is still happening. Backing up is not a justification for a bug.

PS: I did press CTRL upon preview.

It is still happening.

Thanks

Akram, can you "Upload all website files" rather than export only modified files?

If you do this, can you subsequently make changes and update only modified files?

Can I assume there are no errors generated whilst the website is uploading?

Can I also assume that sometimes it works?

It looks like the FTP is trying to upload something that is not there, perhaps a full upload will purge the problem?

Sorry if my comment seemed patronizing, Akram. It was just that I read your comment about losing a lot of work as meaning that you seldom saved or backed up  when working with X5. So, my mistaken assupmtion there and I apologize.
