Change appearance of menu items

(v14) I have "lost" 
where to change the appearance of menu items:
1) spacing between items and more importantly
2) I cannot figure out how or if there is a way to change the background appearance of menu items on mouseover or the page you are actually on. It's a rectangular box and I would like rounded corners.

Debra, double click on the menu object (by the look of the pic, in step 2 Template, Template content, inside the header) and on the page that opens you can set all of those options.
Sadly the 3D styles are no longer available in V14
