Count the times a file is downloaded

I have a request from the owner of a website I manage. He wants to know how many times a file has been downloaded to guage how his message is getting out. Is this possible in any way?

The download button object counts files.

As Andre writes there is the download-object.
If it is many files then there is the free ADMIDIO software you could use.
You can see it here : https://www.admidio.org/
The have a demo account you could try.
You can set download-rights on folders ( public, admin or one or more groups ).
And you can have your customer to upload files without the need for X5 - ADMIDIO can handle upload - and you can set rights to who is allowed to upload.
All files in the download module has a counter ( automatic ).
But - if it is only a small amount of files, then the download button is suitable.
