I have just upgraded my PC and decided at the same time to upgrade to Version 14 - I have 4 web-sites in place and now want to use Version 14 but cannot import because it expects a IWZIP file and I cannot create one?

I have purchased the full version of 14 - can someone help please ...Thanks Andy

Hi Andy,

There are a number of users who have old versions still running on their PC's to help users update, as Incomedia support only goes back one or two Versions. There will be a lot to sort out from such an old version in your case. Version 8 to 9 was a big change for a start, and this has continued through with major changes through 10 and 11. It's most likely that any templates you had in Version 8 will not be available in Version 14 and there will need to be a lot of editing done to get your final design looking as good as you would like it. (it's worth it though)

I now don't have any Versions prior to 10 on my machine, so can't help you out but someone from the community will usually offer to make the conversions necessary (there will need to be more than one). Just don't expect it to look right initially. There is a bit of a learning curve involved in the new version as well. I have 3 sites but have only got one updated to use V14 so far. I hope that you get the help you need!

Andy, like Wayne I no longer have a working copy of 8, but have transferred a number of sites across to more recent versions.

Assuming your websites are online, you can quite quickly recreate your sites using simple copy (from web) and paste into new project. If it is important to you to initially reproduce the site as similar as possible to the original, I believe you will find your original header, footer, backround images in the res folder on your site, you can use a simple ftp client like filezilla to download this folder and any others you wish (eg images).

To make the transition as easy as possible I would recreate your sites in desktop format, and when you are happy with the result, turn on responsive to complete the layout at each resolution.

The prospect is not as daunting as it sounds.

But just in case there is another user who still has Version 8 and could help, I will add this comment to set it back to the top of the forum!

Hi Larry the newer versions now support the older versions except v8 due to v8 being a different file format but other users like myself will convert older templates or sites to the new version for free if users need them updated.

jamie.

That being said we are currently converting all the v8 templates to v9 right through to v14 but because we have about 300 v8 templates this is taking a little longer than expected.
